Correntoso Lake & River Hotel
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 4, 2011

It has the touch of an old Grand Hotel, but it is completely renovated. The location and the view over the lake is unique, rooms are very cosy, great bar & lounge, food and selection of wine in the restaurant top. There is also a nice Spa with pool.
But the best of all is the staff, very friendly and helpful, always here for you .... Great service in a relaxed and relaxing atmosphere!
Don't miss the boat trip (sunset cruise), offered by the hotel .....

villa la angostura is a beautifull, little town in neuquen(argentinian patagonia)
we went there a lot of times and every year it becomes more gorgeous
near villa la angostura, the city of bariloche has something that villa la angostura doesent has:nightlife
however i prefer villa la angostura whit its lakes, rivers, mountains and 5 star hotels
correntoso hotel(member of the small luxurius hotels of the world) is something like el faro hotel
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS PLACE FOR EVERYONE TO VISIT , IT DEFINITLY HAS THE BEST VIEWS OF THE ENTIRE WORLD.

We only spent 2 days here but we will never forget those. I proposed to my girlfriend and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff was great helping me to prepare it. We stayed at the comfortable Belvedere Suite with an amazing view on the lake. And we had a wonderful time together at the high tea, massage, pool... and enjoyed the great food.

We spent three nights here and this is a really lovely hotel. Full of character, but comfortable and luxurious, it's a mile away from the big chains. The restaurant sits right above the lake and the food and service was excellent. We forced ourselves out for one dinner in the village, which was also good.
The hotel organised some great excursions for us, riding, cycling, trekking and a boat trip. They can't do enough to ensure you have a great time.
Thoroughly recommended.

I stayed there with the intention of going skiing on nearby Cerro Bayo. The hotel was a lot better than the skiing. The call Cerro Bayo the Boutique Ski Center. In my estimation the term "Boutique" applies much more to the Hotel than the ski center with its more than 40 years old, dacaying infrastructure. In contrast the Correntoso is a very well kept place with gorgeous views and a restaurant that could compete with many of the best restaurants in the big cities around the world.
Be very cautious when booking your room on-line. I booked (...and paid by credit card) three nights, but ended up staying only for two nights. Irregardless, they charged me for all three nights and the place wasn't even half full. I had to put up a big fuss to finally get the third night credited. The whole process incuded three staff members and must have taken half an hour.

we enjoyed our stay here - mostly down to the nice staff - Diego, Sebastien and the lovely wine waitress. The views are spectacular and the pool is in an idyllic setting.
Negatives:
The food was okay and the ambiance in the restaurant wasn't great. Disappointed that they wouldn't light the fire for us one evening.
Rooms are fine - deck rooms are lovely but the terraces are not private so you'll be sitting alongside your neighbours. As it turned out, our neighbours were lovely and we had great chats while watching the sunset.

We spent our part of our Christmas vacation (2 nights, including Christmas eve) at this wondrous hotel. We found the hotel most welcoming, tastefully, with a European mountain/lake chalet feel, combined with country hunters' lodge style - which works perfectly for this area.
It is out of the way, some minutes drive from the little charming chocolate-box town of Villa La Angostura, and very well situated if you are there to explore the area by car (which you definitely need to have!)
The breakfast is very good - which is a lot to say in Argentina where locals seem to be happy with coffee and toast and therefore one finds that in many (even expensive) hotels this meal is not a highlight, to be polite.

The Christmas dinner was very good - but not brilliant - which was somewhat disappointing after having had a delicious meal the previous night. Maybe they tried too hard. Yet, the atmosphere was lovely, with the owner organising a very nice cocktail party beforehand.
In the room I loved most the fact that we practically felt as if we were on top of the lake, having a magical uninterrupted view of the lake and the snow topped mountains, even when bathing as there is a large window between the bedroom and the bath (which is a large, lovely bath tub). Toilet is separate, thank goodness. We personally do not enjoy the new trend of open-plan on this front.
All in all, it is a fantastic, relaxing place to come to for leisure, fly fishing, or for exploring the area.
We are looking forward to going back.
