“Historic hotel but a bit old...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014 via mobile

The Angostura hotel is a Nice avarage hotel, historic, in a beautiful place in Villa La Angostura. The rooms are old but ok, the baths are the worse part of the hotel, to small, old and noisy...the best part is the view! The people at the hotel are very friendly and helpful...the restaurant is not the best but still good, breakfest is avarage, still worth a visit if ya agree to stay in a avarage and historic hotel!!

We stated in in delightful old hotel - another Bustillo work. It has a wonderful location, right on the water and well away from the traffic hassles in Villa La Angostura. Our major issue was a 1am phone call from the staff to check whether we had filled in our registration card! We had, and if not I am sure it could have waited. When complaining re this the next morning we received a curt response. The breakfast was only just ok.

I stayed here for just one night as part of a large group on a charity cycling trip. We cycled here from Bariloche and were very pleasantly surprised to find a delightful garden with an incredible view of the lake. It was perfect for relaxing with a cold beer after a long day in the saddle.

I shared a room with 3 single beds and although it was cramped, it was comfortable enough and had an en-suite bathroom. It was quite acceptable for a night and I slept well.

They provided a 3 course meal in the evening for us and the food and wines were enjoyable however breakfast was less impressive.

You would soon get bored here if you stayed for more than a couple of nights as it felt a bit isolated and the facilities were limited. I would recommend it to couples, families and groups for short stays. The view from the garden was stunning.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, with a great view over the lake and the national park.

BUT the rooms are very small and floors and stairs and passageways are very creaky old timbers. It was not clear how one could escape from the upper floor in the event of a fire. Breakfast very limited. Not good value for money.

We moved to another hotel nearby which had an equally splendid view and much better rooms.

The hotel overlooks a quiet bay and the national park. Highly recommended as a place to stay away from the bariloche area. It is charming and quiet with clean and basic rooms. It is about 4km from the town of villa le angostura so a car in our opinion is really required. We paid 390 pesos for a double room in mid December. Breakfast was just adequate.

We went to Argentina for 3 weeks for our honeymoon early 2009 -- we had an amazing time...the country is beautiful, the people are incredibly friendly , the food is out of this world..and it was a vacation we will never forget. We had a rental car (very important if you're staying at Hotel Angostura since it's a few miles on a busy road and up/down hills to town) and that made the trip to villa Angostura perfect. We went to Chile for a day (about an hour or so from the hotel) and it was an amazing trip. The staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful. The food at the hotel was also wonderful - the coffee was great as well as the yogurt and breakfast breads. We loved the restaurant -- the food is gourmet and delicious. The value for lodging is excellent we thought. The stairs creek, the hallways creek, the rooms are sparse but comfortable, the walls are thing (you can hear you neighbors)...but we did not come for the hotel, we came for the view. One of the best views in the area. Ask for the double room upstairs that overlooks the lake - the view of that lake is unreal from the hotel and from the upstairs room in particular...we slept with the windows open and the glacial lake's breeze coming in put us into a peaceful sleep every night. We got up early and went for a run/hike through the adjacent national park - what an amazing hike that is early in the morning! The little restaurants within walking distance of the hotel are nice, but the restaurants in town are even better. We stayed in 4 hotels/apartments/lodges while we were in Argentina and this was by far our favorite.

We visited in early March, and enjoyed the magical views..... the location is ovelooking the lake and wonderful garden, and a lovely place to relax with a cool beer after a hike/ bike etc. Certainly the stairs and corridors creak (all timber building), but we had no trouble sleeping........ Staff were helpful. Good value for money !
