“Great location, but rooms with thin walls”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a good time. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the location is great. The common room is very nice with great views. If you have a room with sea view you will be able to see whales from there which is a super experience. The rooms are dated, and the walls are very thin, you can hear everything your neighbors are saying or doing. Breakfast choice is small. With a good price, this hotel is good value for money

The hotel was quite tired but was clean and warm.
The bathroom was quite small with a shower, no bath. Good supply of hot water. The air-conditioning worked well.
The hotel did not do evening meals so we had to go to the Paradise restaurant for dinner.
The best thing about about the hotel was breakfast, the best croissant served during the whole trip. Great cake available too.
However I never thought I would eat breakfast whilst watching breaching Southern Right whales, the hotel deserves a good rating just for that!

We were with another group. The Paradise was closing for the season and we moved here with our second tour group. The place makes Motel 6 look like a luxury motel. But do not worry. Friendly staff. Generally quiet. Room was small but was cleaned incredibly nice every day. Bathroom was small, very basic, with peeling paint, but no worries--the water was hot. Breakfast was nothing to get excited about and not available until 8 a.m. Motel is close to the center but just far enough away to make it quiet. Ironically, the BBC film team which was filming the Orcas was staying here.We were quite happy with this location even if it looked a little dated.

The only great thing in ACA is the homemade bread....delicious and the friendly staff.

The rest, is really average as it is quite old and need renovation. And if you do go in Summer (december) do not spend more than one night as there is little to do in Puerto Piramides.

Everything in Puerto Pirámides is close by (it's a small village afterall), but Hotel Aca has the best spot to be found. Patagonia is expensive, and this is great value for money.

The Pros: best location, place to park your car, good breakfast (continental style), ocean view in some rooms (for no extra cost) clean, comfortable bed (matresses and pillows were brand new), and very reasonably priced. Staff is friendly, and will try to help you if you need anything. Trust them for their recommendations about where to dine and what to do.

The Cons: this is one of the oldest hotels in P.Pirámides, and it needs a renovation for purely aesthetic reasons. Mainly in the rooms and garden. The hotel's reaturant is good but not open all-year long: only in the high season.

Nothing fancy here, but you will find everything comfortably and working, at more than fair price. If you want your room to be pretty, go to somewhere else and pack some extra dollars.

Room Tip: All the rooms cost the same so you can't guarantee an ocean view... but if you make our reservat...

We stayed at this modest motel 26 years ago, and were deighted to find that it had in essence remained the same, with improvements! The rooms are fairly basic, but very warm with extremely comfortable beds and views of the bay. There aren't many hotels where you can see whales from your window, but this is one of them! The restaurant is now only open for breakfast, offering a selection of fresh bread and pastries, along with cereals and endless amounts of delicious coffee (or tea if that's your thing). Once again, the views from here are of the bay, so whale watching at this time of year starts early in the morning! The staff were extremely helpful, advising us on weather conditions and helped to secure us a boat trip with an excellent company, and also filled us in on the history of the port. This is a no frills place, but very comfortable and as for the location - you'd be hard pressed to beat it.

There are more accommodation options in Puerto Piramides than the beach-front Las Restingas and the ACA Motel, but, as other reviewers have said, travellers are not exactly spoiled for choice here - especially if budget is a factor.

This place is part of the national chain of motels run by the Argentine automobile club. What you get is a no-frills motel. Clean linen. Hot water. Heating and cooling that works. Cable TV if you want it. A basic breakfast. A friendly face in reception. And an affordable (by Patagonian standards) bill at check-out. Luxury it ain't. It could really do with a bit of TLC and needs a lick of paint. But it's very well located. Bottom line: there are far worse places to rest your head after a long day's whale-watching.

We were travelling with two young children. Part of the attraction for us in staying at the ACA Motel was that it had quadruple rooms and a playground on site. The accommodation worked out well - it had a double room plus bunk beds in an adjoining room. The playground wasn't that great - very tired and overgrown with weeds (but there's a slightly better one down the street, next to the petrol station).
