“Nice hotel, but too far away from city center”
Reviewed February 25, 2011

When we took a taxi from the bus station to the posada we suddenly thought: "where the hell are we" when he took us to the outskirts of Puerto Madryn. The posada is the last street in the south of the town before the Patagonian Steppe starts.
The hotel is very nice and green. The swimming pool is nice and warm and the staff are very friendly. Only the receptionist during daytime speak English, the others only speak Spanish.
The hotel is bad situated (40 minutes walk to the city center) but in a nice neighbourhood. The hotel has free bikes (not the best) but you have to reservate them in advance. Breakfast is standard but good. Rooms are clean and light but a bit small. Shower is in the bath.

I spent a night at this hotel on my way to the Peninsula Valdes. It sufficed, but if I had not been nearly the only guest, it would have been very noisy. There was no soundproofing whatsoever, and every noise reverberated. The room was clean, but the common area was a bit run-down. I arrived in the evening, and there was no food available. The hotel is quite a distance from downtown, on the outskirts of a newly developed area. I would choose a different one next time.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. This hotel is a little off the center and 20 blocks to walk into town. Close to the coast. Rooms are small and breakfast is not the best I've had, but it's ok... worth a stay without expecting too much.

We stayed here for several days in January 09, and enjoyed it immensely.
The hotel is set in large well kept grassed gardens that have plenty of shade and protection from wind (Puerto Madryn is in a large flat semi-desert). The rooms have ensuite facilities, phone, tv etc. and our room was very clean, and serviced daily.
The hotel has its own website wwwDOTla-posadaDOTCcomDOTar but it is not posssible to do an online booking (we sent a fax with visa information to make a reservation). The rate was ARG$230 per night.
There is a full buffet continental breakfast (fruit juices, tea, coffee, yogurt, cereals, fruit salad, breads and cakes (scones - nice with jam) cheeses and ham, I think the breads/cakes were home made in the hotel and were very tasty. You will need a good breakfast as the tours from Puerto Madryn are all day - Punta Tomba or Pennisular Valdes (highly recommended).
Several of the staff speak excellent english. There is even a pool table in the day room/ bar area.
Only drawbacks - hotel is on edge of town but only about 10Pesos to get in/out (about £2), and the wifi hub connection to the internet was intermittent.
Overall a good value for money hotel.
Photos are from tour to the pennisular (about 200Pesos all in).
