Unless you specifically want to understand something about welsh migration to Argentina this place is not really worth it, we expected some picturesque town, with nice tea places to relax, etc.

The town has nothing picturesque at all, it is just like any other farming town in the Pampas, there are six welsh tea cafes which provide a lot of food and have nice settings inside, but also not worth the 70 kms we did from Puerto Madryn.

If you drive around the surrounding areas you will see some nice chacras, but nothing different you can see just around Buenos Aires.

Now, if you are interested in Welsh history in Argentina, there are some original houses, etc and they have a welsh road defined to follow the history, etc.

We travelled specifically to Gaiman because we had lived in Wales for 4 years back in the 1970s. The village of Gaiman resembles little of what we remember of Wales. Gaiman has many overly-priced (ARG 120-150 pesos per person) tea houses. However, the tea houses were more English than Welsh and 120 pesos was very very expensive for a pot of tea and a few pieces of bread and pastries.

It reminded me of a fairies' place. An ideal place to walk around, have contact with nature and enjoy a nice tea. It deserves to be visited.

The route to get to Gaiman along the Valley of Chubut River is beautiful, if interested in local production, you can make stops in any of the hundred "chacras" (small farms) who sell their products. If you have the chance to do this route on a bike on a sunny day from Trelew, it is even more rewarding.

We stopped in Gaiman city as part of our deal to visit both Punta Tombo and Gaiman city, by private taxi from Trelew, we loved Punta Tombo but we were disappointed with Gaiman, the city is small quite and plain. The main attraction is to have Welsh traditional tea and cakes which is overpriced and nothing special in this action you can have tea and cakes any where in the world and will be the same, we saw the first house that was built in town, also passed by the old train station( not in use anymore), trelew has a similar station. My advise is if Gaiman is a part of your tour just do it but if you can go to Punta Tombo without Gaiman and reduce the expenses this will be a better offer.
