The POSADA LOS MIMBRES is a little piece of paradise amidst the arid plains of Patagonia. Nestled in a green valley at a bend of the Chubut River, this inn was a peaceful and beautiful retreat from the hectic pace of our trip. The main building is a hundred-year-old farmhouse. The renovations have preserved the building's historic charm, while providing modern comforts and rustic elegance. All this at an astonishingly reasonable price!
We also found Los Mimbres to be an excellent base for exploration of seaside attractions such as Punta Tombo (huge penguin colony). Only a half hour from Trelew and minutes from the quaint Welsh town of Gaiman, the inn can be reached most easily by car. Lacking wheels, we simply took a taxi from Trelew--inexpensive at the current exchange rate.
But what made our stay at Los Mimbres especially memorable was the warm hospitality of our hosts: the owner, Marcela Plust, and her mother, Ester. They treated us like guests in their home. When we came "home" after a long day of sightseeing, Ester or Marcela would cook us a delicious dinner, using fresh produce from their garden. Then we'd talk about our day--and our lives.
Los Mimbres is an almost undiscovered gem. Find its website and discover it now!
