If you do nothing but visit this beautiful museum, it will be worth your while. The mummy children and their history is very informative and interesting.

“Excellent with English text”

Tips include using student discount if you have it and also don't buy the guide for $20 as it just repeats what is already on display.

“Great insights into Pre-Columbian culture”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

The amazingly well-preserved remains of a young girl sacrificed on top of an Andean mountain in the era before the arrival of the conquistadores is the highlight of this museum. She was just one of many who were sacrificed to appease and please the gods in return for which a good growing season was hoped for. The story of the Inca culture, its vast empire, its amazing network of routes and communications plus the account of the sacrifices are well presented and well told. Some of the artefacts, including those placed in the mountain top tomb of the sacrificial victim, are in astonishingly pristine condition, Well worth a good hour while in Salta

“Too little for too much”

What is there is interesting, but it's very small and quickly seen for as expensive as it is. Basically, you see one mummy and a few artifacts.

The whole story about Inca's sacrificing children to the mountain is absolutely fascinating, and then to see one of them is incredible!
