Owner description: This cathedral houses 16th-century statues of the Virgin Mary and the Cristo del Milagro, which were washed ashore when the Spanish ship transporting them sank.

The Cathedral looks like it is made out of icing sugar. The pink and white facade is striking and looks lovely at sunset. I wouldn't go to Salta just to see it but it was worth visiting once there.

Beautiful when lit up at night. Not always open so take the opportunity when the gates are open. In the town centre.

right in the main square. Not a destination place, but gives to the square a special feeling...is more interesting from outside than from inside (well, maybe just because being european I found it "just another ancient church" with nothing special)

Its a church, but the architecture is beautiful. Situated in the middle of the city, most places are closed for "siesta" between 1-5. Keep that in mind

Salta's Cathedral is amazingly beautiful. All that gold is truly impressive. You can spend hours just looking around. If you are lucky (as we couldn't find any schedule) the "bell concert" is simply extraordinary with several people playing with the multiple bells of the church... Do not miss!
