We stayed here for two nights through a deal on Booking.com, and it was by far the nicest place we have stayed in a long time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the room was gorgeous (got the best sleep I've had in awhile!), the grounds perfect, and the breakfast delicious. They had multiple types of homemade bread every morning!

We also really appreciated the TV room and the kitchen, both of which were clean and always available.

Definitely stay here if you are in Tilcara! It is the best choice!

Patio Alto felt like a second home to us. We were treated in a very personal way. Pat (the host) took time to receive us, had a tea with us, showed us around and gave us tips. It was like arriving to the house of an aunt who was very happy to see us again.
We could notice that Patio Alto has a very clear goal: to make the visitor's stay wonderful and comfortable. They would do everything we needed: prepare picknick, cook something (although it is not a restaurant), lend hiking gear, et cetera. The last day we got ill and they did everything to help us, even offered us to stay in the appartment next to the hotel (after the ckeck out time) since our room was already booked by a next guest.
Furthermore, the design of the building and the rooms is simply beautiful.
We will never forget our stay there and hope to be able to go back another time!

Patio Alto is a special place. Located at the edge of town you are surrounded by great views and beautiful sky. The rooms are stunning, and the made to order breakfasts are terrific. However what makes this place really special is the staff. Pat is super interesting, smart and generous. She and the rest of the staff will go out of their way to make your stay as close to perfect as possible. I can't recommend this place enough.

We booked a night at Patio Alto having seen the great reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com and I'm glad to say our experience was the same.

The hotel has been really nicely designed and is a really tranquil spot where you could relax for a week quite happily. The room was exceptionally clean, really nicely desgined, with a huge comfy bed and a great bathroom.
The best part of hte hotel however is the service. Pat the owner and her staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially when we were trying to work out how to get buses on to our next destination and also go to see the Cerro de Seite Colores in Purmamarca. In the end she organised a driver she knew to take us to Purmamarca see the sights and wait while we had a look round some of the shops. You can do it cheaper on the bus, but we got lots of little detours and facts explained to us that you would just miss on a bus ride or big tour.

Finally, the extra touches like the afternoon coffee or tea, and the great breakfast just made it a really nice, relaxing and easy place to stay. We were just gutted we couldn't have stayed longer!

I go to Jujuy, to be more exact, to La Quebrada de Humahuaca once a year. Last time, I found an excellent place to stay at Patio Alto. It surprised me. The place has two options to stay: cozy private rooms or shared rooms. I stayed in a shared room, but there was no one else because it was low season. The place is excellent, with a homemede breackfast included. There are a living room to stay if want to listen some music or read a book. The ambience is very relaxing and the decoration was made with a very good taste.
The price is reasonable for the quality you get. You will really enjoy this place.

We arrived in Tilcara and drove around a few places looking for somewhere nice to stay. The first thing I saw as I walked in the Patio Alto gates was a beautiful, green, enclosed lawn - a rare luxury when travelling with little kids! After having a look at the rooms (light & fresh, beautiful & clean, great views (all our rooms were upstairs) lovely decor - stylish but cosy, excellent bathrooms) we were pretty set on staying!
Because we hadn't booked ahead they asked for 10 minutes to get the rooms ready, so we split up and the grown ups sat in the library/lounge area and drank cups of tea whilst listening to jazz and looking at the fantastic view out the windows of the town and the mountains, while the kids happily stayed in the movie room with Nemo. Once the rooms were ready and we went in, the attention to detail and the effort that Pablo and his team had gone to to make us feel comfortable was really impressive. This applied to all aspects of our stay, from breakfast, to the turn-down service, to the guest kitchen. They are really good at what they do.
We've travelled quite a bit in Argentina, and this is one of our favourite places we've ever stayed. We would go back every chance we got!

Tilcara offers a variety of boutique hotels but this one is special in many ways: It combines a design approach with a personal style and a deliberate connection with local culture. Stunning views and great service make it the place to stay. All double rooms are great, with huge showers (good for two as well…) and views. Even the hostel dorms downstairs are really really great and recommended.

At first, in the centre, Tilcara feels like a village with too much touristic influence. Even better when you reach the elevated, quiet location of Patio Alto. When you get to the entrance, the welcome is warm and personal. You will first get a full tour of all the areas so you really feel introduced and at home. The lobby and lounge areas are very nice and designed to make visitors stay and meet. An open fire and afternoon tea, library and music – perfect ingredients for a pleasant stay. In summer, you may prefer to stay outside in the garden, in a deck chair or in the hammock.

In the evening, Felipe joins the team and provides extremely helpful tips for your tour the next day. In the morning, a marvelous breakfast buffet provides the perfect start of your day: Home-baked bread, fresh fruit, different jams, media lunas etc. Among the best breakfasts I had during 5 weeks in Argentina. A place I will always remember and where I would love to go back to rather sooner than later.

Room Tip: My favourite room was Nr 5, which is a corner room although it has no balcony and no seating area in...
