“Lesson learned: Don't avoid a place just because it's a chain”

Frankly, I think the name of this place is, well, kind of stupid. Where's the jungle? And I mistook this name for pita hut or some other chain place. I didn't expect it to be a nice but casual sit-down meal. It was great for me because there were PLENTY of vegan choices. They had a chili, a few soups, a bevy of vegetable side dishes plus a lentils and rice side dish. I ended up ordering 3 side dishes which they put on a plate together for me. It was HUGE. Enough for 2 - 3 meals. The cauliflower with tahini sauce was delicious. The grilled vegetables were rushed. There was not a grill mark on them and they hadn't reached the tender stage just snappy and crunchy and loaded with garlic - which I love. The lentils and rice were kind of plain. A parsley garnish would have been nice or wedge of lemon or even a side of that yummy tahini sauce. Overall i was quite happy to have so many vegetable dishes to choose from and would go there again.

“Quickest, best service ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

Just before noon today (Thursday), called in an order and it was ready for pick-up twenty minutes later. Walked in, paid, and went home to eat. They did add extra onion to my gyro as requested. The gyro was overstuffed with delicious meat, onion, tomato, sour pickle, and sauce. This will make two meals for me! Very generous on portions. Also ordered a couple of pieces of extra gyro-bread and they only charged me 39 cents each. Love this place!

“Good healthy food in a relaxed atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2011

Some work colleagues had mentioned Pita Jungle as an easy place to get dinner, so I looked up the closest one in the Phoenix area. The place is a good size, but not too big. It looked like there was plenty of outdoor seating for those times when the weather allows it. Most of the diners were of a youngish age since the restaurant is near Mesa Community College, but not everyone. The menu had many healthy choices, including vegetarian. I was quite pleased with my salad. Not a lot of beer choices, but that was okay since the ones they had were reasonably priced. The menu seemed reasonably priced as well. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Very open dining area with eclectic art scattered around. Not a posh place by any means, but not shabby either. The waiter was attentive. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience. I highly recommend the Pita Jungle.
