“A lot to be desired”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012 via mobile

The atmosphere is very good, and the service was fair. It is downhill from there. We started with the antipasta appetizer. It appeared to have come from the Wal Mart deli. Ever see "corn beef" on an antipasta tray? There were perhaps three pieces of genoa and the rest was just plain "lunch meat". The entrees were not bad, but not worth the price. You also would expect some kind of Italian bread -- not "brown and serve" rolls that were not even warm. There was a lot of "details" that were ignored on a $45 meal for two. We would think that there are better Italian restaurants in the Mesa area. Also, at 6 PM, there was no paper towels in the bathroom.

“Welcome to the Family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

Roma Cafe is our "go to" restaurant for fabulous food and feel good service. We dine there 4-5 times a month. Marco (the son) brings our lemonade and iced tea without being asked and they seat us in our favorite booth if it is available. Antonio and Anna are wonderful hosts and come by the table to chat and be sure we are happy. The menu is extensive (my husband plans on eating his way through the entire menu) and all offerings we have tried have been superb. They often have nightly specials as well. This is REAL Italian dining......authentic dishes served by the whole family in a wonderful, friendly atmosphere.

“Our second family; our second home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2012

Barb and I have been dining here for the past 10 years, first at the old place, then the new one on Main, and when we walk in we're greeted with hugs. The food is better than excellent, the service cannot be beat. We've introduced lots of our friends, both local and visitors, to Antonio and Anna, and all rave about the friendly atmosphere and the food. The selections are mind-blowing and its hard to pick a favourite so I gave up trying. One simply cannot find a better, enjoyable and satisfying place..in the east valley or anywhere..

“That's Italiano!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2012

We only discovered this place last year -- sorry it took us so long. The food is superb...period. The service is fabulous (but then that is what I would expect form a small family-run place). My wife and I are stuck in a rut, though -- seems like we always order the same entrees on just about every visit. The prices are a bit high, but if you want good Italian -- pay it. Last summer and this summer they have had ads in local free newspapers for buy-one-dinner-get-one-free. That makes going there in the hot, slow summer really worth it. I doubt you will find a better Italian restaurant in the Phoenix area. (By the way, they have found Radio Napoli on the internet and play it in the dining area -- how's that for authentic atmosphere?)

“We love the Roma Cafe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2011

A true family Italian restaurant-not a chain of copy cats. Roma Cafe is owned and operated by an Italian family headed by poppa Tony. Everything is Italian right down to the white table clothes and linens, the food and wines and the many pictures hung throughout the restaurant of old Italy and ancestors/relatives plus more recent family photos on recent trips back. The food is excellent, the atmosphere says "Italian cafe" in every regard, and it all works together to just make you feel like you are among friends and family. Tony and his family go out of their way to assure you are well served and happy. Believe me, you will not leave this restaurant hungry! There is a fine wine list and wide selection of menu choices. They have a relatively large dining room also which will accomodate a relatively large group. As a member of the Alliance of Marine Corps Veterans, we celebrated the Marine Corps 236th birthday with wives and friends at the Roma Cafe. Salute!
