Me, my partner and two friends went tonight to enjoy dinner before a play at the Mesa Arts Center. I am typically not inspired to write a review but this food was AWFUL. The lamb was overcooked, though we asked for medium rare, the escargot was disgusting, and the prawns were tiny and overcooked..or microwaved several times. Never again.

We spent part of a lovely Friday afternoon on the patio enjoying a bottle of Pinot Grigio. The food was great and the service was excellent. They have a fairly good wine list although their "by the glass" prices are high. A bottle is the price of 3 glasses. I guess that encourages patrons to buy a bottle. Anyway we enjoyed our visit.

This was our second visit to De La Cruz Bistro. We went for our anniversary. The first time was for Valentine's Day in 2011. We love this place for a special occasion. Atmosphere is hip/industrial/romantic, if you can imagine such a thing. They have a great bar with an well thought-out wine list. But the reason to go there is for the food and service. The menu is varied and there were three specials that night. We both had the lamb shank and it was so tender and flavorful. Hated to see the last morsel disappear. Came with great mashed potatoes and delicious vegetables.

We had a great server who was always there for us. The chef stopped by to see how we enjoyed the lamb. We always eat early, so it was pretty intimate for most of the meal, then the theater crowd began to arrive and the noise level grew, but that was a sign of success for a top notch restaurant in downtown Mesa!!
