I planned to stay a weekend at the Riviera Palace in Rosario. When I made the reservation, they confirmed me a "deluxe room" for a very interesting fare. And they also confirmed me that the hotel had been entirely renewed.
When I checked in, it turned out that my room was just a standard one, no matter what they told me when I reserved.
The corridors looked old and very worn out. The "renewal" was not really noticeable. Materials and decoration date from the 70´s and has not been renewed. It looked more as a cheap motel than a four stars hotel, as they pretend to be.
The room was TINY, looked old and worn out. The bathroom was very small and old. It had basins and tube in some light brown color, which was very used in Argentina during the 70´s.
When I asked for a really renewed room they said that they just had some suites, that were worth exactly the double I had paid ( I paid about 60 dollars and the suites were 120 USD). I saw one of the suites, and they were not even close to a standard room at the Holiday Inn Rosario. So I packed my stuff, after a night there, and moved to the Holiday Inn, where I paid 70 dollars and had a very, very nice room.
The Riviera Palace belongs to a company called "Solans Empresa Hotelera". They own three or four hotels in Rosario: the main characteristic of this company is that they DO NOT INVEST ON HOTEL RENEWALS and maintenance.
I won´t return to this hotel or any other Solans hotel.
