“Very interesting historical site”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

Don't miss the light and sound night show, it is surprising and absolutely worth it! Completes the daily visit just fine.
The experience is great, it has a reality feel that we didn't expect.
Many historical details about life in the mission, and narrative and projection techniques which are really impressive.

“Excellent guide and superb lightshow”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

We visited the reduccions from Posadas and returned to Posadas the same evening. Using the local bus service worked flawlessly.
We had the pleasure of following a very enthusiastic guide (spanish!) who brought the era to life. After the guided tour had finished we strolled around some more hours as the site is huge and there are a lot of "info desks" in several languages (spanish, english, german, ?). The most amazing part of our visit was the sound and light show in the evening! Using a special projection technique (3D projection onto mist) as well as standard projection onto the historic walls, they visualize the story at the time of the jesuites...

PROs:
+ UNESCO world heritage
+ well conserved state
+ interesting guided tours
+ multilingual info desks

CONs:
- price discrimination of foreigners
- light and sound show costs extra!

“The night light show was amazing”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

If you get the chance while in San Ignacio try not to miss the well organised and presented night light show in the grounds of the Mission. It provides a wonderful insight into the history of the area and the hardships encountered. We were not sure what to expect and found it an amazing experience.Translations by audio are available.

“Visiting this area not complete without visiting a mission”
Reviewed April 3, 2012

Great information in many languages. Some audio displays not functional which is unfortunate but there's so much restoration still needed and funds only go so far. Nonetheless, really worthwhile. This is the only mission I visited - I think it is enough but there are more in the area if you are so inclined. Light and sound show at night was great fun too. They provide headsets and audio in many languages so you don't have to understand Spanish to get the full effect.

“Excellent place to learn history”
Reviewed January 27, 2012

I enjoyed seeing this place and learning about history of the missions in this part of the world. Museum is quite good, and worth spending some time there. Seeing the Sound and Light Show at night should be a must. So nicely done! Take a tripod for your camera. It was a very pleasant way to finish a day in San Ignacio.
