We stayed in a gorgeous, romantic room in one of the lodges, would definitely recommend. Take advantage of the dinners - food is delicious and at a really affordable price! Hotel was a bit of a distance from the falls and airport, so be prepared to pay for cabs.

My partner and I spent 2 nights here. We were greeted by Cristian (great guy who speaks excellent English). Regarding breakfast on arrival, a table was set for us. Afterwards we were taken to our room along a fantastic boardwalk. The room is very spacious and clean (except for the floor which could do with a mop). Otherwise my only issue with the room are the bathroom glass sliding doors which have transparent strips thus providing no privacy!

Dinner is good depending in what you order (I didn't enjoy the steak but other meat dishes are great).

The bike/walking tours were great and the guide Allejandro is a fantastic person who speaks great English.

Our only issues are as follows;

1) very overpriced for taxi service to the Falls (180 Pesos) - when you can just walk to the top of the road (1.5km) and get the bus directly there for 10 Pesos return as opposed to alternativelygetting a taxi into Puerto Iguazu (30 Pesos oneway) and then getting the bus back the same way!!! The staff are not the best at providing information on public transport as they work with 2 taxi drivers therefore we found out the hard way!!

2) depending on who youare dealing with, some of the staff particularly during the evening, can come across quite rude and make you feel slightly uncomfortable when realistically you should feel the opposite in such a paradise!!

3) finally my partner informed me the ladies bathroom in the main building did not close properly and toilet paper wasn't refilled so I had to go into the male bathroom and get her some?!!

In summary, this is a great place, probably the best we stayed in our 3 week journey across Argentina. I would definately recommend this hidden gem off the beaten track!!

We spend 2 nights at the hotel during the Argentinan winter break. The hotel is cool, we booked a room with jacuzzi and a veranda in the jungle.
Two things about rooms: wifi don't work in the rooms and no covers for windows (so the sunlight comes in the early morning)
They organize some activities to do and a very nice guide that walk with the guest in the jungle. The staff is not so cool as the hotel. They don't care so much of the clients, some of them has an attitude and a guy (Eduardo or similar, anyway was the only man at the front desk) is very sneaky.
Two exemples.
1) One day they did not make the room. We stayed all the day out and when we came back we noticed. The excuse was we incidentally kept the key: they don't have another one?!? A four stars resort?!? i don't want to believe... BTW, we asked if they could do something for it, at least change the towels (around 6pm). They did agree, but when we got the room after dinner the room was as we left at the morning, the dirty towels we used were in the ground, they didn't replace the soap and shampoo we used, and the only thing we found where two small clean towels in the messy bed.
2) They said we had a free transportation from the hotel to the airport, so when we arrived we took a taxy and we paid for it (180 pesos) and we asked this guy if the amount was fine. So he knew we paid for the transportation to the hotel. When we left the hotel, we asked if the taxi was included, just to be sure 100% we did not have to pay, since we didd not have enough local money. Yhe same guy just said that was included the transportation from the airport to the hotel but not the taxi from the hotel to the airport! The same guy! We did answer that we paid the first taxi but the guy just sent us...

We were triggered about the good reviews on trip advisor about the Lodge. Unfortunately it was a big dissapointment. We travel a lot around the world and are not very demanding at all, but this was not a good experience..
The lodge is a nice place, and the rooms are quite good (the big bed was really wonderfull!!!) But the bad experiences had to do with the service of the staff;
- Due to a flight delay we arrived at 05.00 a.m. in the hotel, and so we did arrive a couple minutes late for breakfast. They knew we had such a bad luck with the delay, but they let us pay a ridiculous price for 2 slices of old bread with ham and cheese they had left from the breakfast buffet.
- The guy at the desk was really rude. Not being just unfriendly, but really rude en did not care of his clients at all.
- The room was not very clean, especially the sliding doors between the shower and room were dirty and the room smelled foggy
- If you don't have a car, you are stuck! They don't want to help you to get information about public transport, but only work toghether with 2 taxi drivers.
- They add with a free shuttle service, but once you have checked out you have to pay the taxi driver to get back to the airport
- Diner was awfull. They pretend to have a high level kitchen, but it is very bad. They give me the wrong starter, there were pieces of wood in my dessert and we have the most terrible steak ever (and you are in Argentina, the country of the best steaks!)

To conclude; not worth the money!

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate a lot!!!

We will be make a policy in order to be more flexible at breakfast time. Sorry for the inconvenient.-We will charge back the amount of money.

That morning you was received by Antonio. Hi is our security staff. Maybe he did not understand english very well. We are looking a blingual receptionist to the night hours.

I will talk to the staff about transfers and information. We works with more than 2 cars, but we focus in those who has very good service and charge the same price to every customer. We had a list price for transfer. We do not like taxis who charge different rates!!!!

We are improving every day in our kitchen staff.

We offer transfer in from de airport for free. We do not offer transfer out for free o shuttle service to the ciiy. For sure we will check our communication in order to not promise anything that we do not bring to customers.

I would like to recover your satisfaction. Pls let us know the better way.

La Cantera is a jewel of an inn near Iguazu Falls. Off the beaten bath and in the middle of the forest. The rooms are beautiful with very modern amenities like a jetted tub, pretty tile, vessel bowl and frosted glass doors. The food was delicious and service was wonderful. We stayed in July so it was cool and the pool was not filled. I can imagine how magical the grounds will look in the summer with all the lights at night on the walkways and around the pool. My only complaint is that the door separating the bath and the sleeping area is frosted glass with some clear strips. I was traveling with my adult son and teenage nephew, so privacy was an issue with us. Still...if I went back, I wouldn't stay anywhere but La Cantera.

It's easy to imagine that all of Iguazu would be all jungle, but there are lots of really bad hotels situated right next to the road (and I imagine it would be very busy and very noisy). La Cantera is away from all the noise and the chaos. It's truly an oasis in Iguazu.

From the moment you step in, you get a warm welcome. Ramiro (the manager) gave us extremely good advice on what to do. And it got us off to an amazing start, because though we like to relax (rather than run around seeing everything) it was important to catch the good weather (it was winter, after all).

The rooms are spacious and tidy. There is a bit of moist air and I'm not sure that can be fixed, but overall the rooms are very nice and tidy. The bathrooms, the balcony etc all meet top-class standards. And the staff is very friendly. Most of them are reasonably well-versed in English and are positively chatty if you speaking Spanish.

The location (as mentioned earlier) is superb. We went to the falls on one day, and visited some sights (I wouldn't recommend going too far to see the ruins etc) locally. And we rested at the hotel. It was very quiet and easy to relax at La Canterra. You also want to get a good handle on the pricing of excursions and trips to the falls etc. And the staff will give you explicit details, so make sure you ask.

The food at the restaurant is very good too. I'd recommend the pasta. Especially Las Cuerdas de la Guitarra (strings of the guitar—ok it's a pasta). The bife de chorizo didn't meet with our expectations, but when we mentioned it to the manager, he handled it beautifully.

The falls are amazing. And the hotel is a superb oasis (hey, I said that before). You'll enjoy your stay. Just don't go too crazy trying to do everything. Take a day off at the hotel itself and read a book or lounge by the pool. It's well worth winding down at La Cantera.

The La Cantera was a great choice at a great price! If You're going to the falls stay at La Cantera--Off the highway and Into the forest. The manager, Celeste, was very helpful in arranging what We needed and the on site restaurant served very nice meals along with a small but very well thought out wine list. Yes, Argentina has other great wines beside's MAlbec. Being in the travel industry I will always advise My clients to at La Cantera when traveling to the falls!
