“Imagine - Latin America, Anniversary Tour!”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Stayed here for two nights on way from Buenos Aires to Rio. Had excellent two day travelling to both Argentinian and Brazilian sides of the Iguazu falls.

The hotel is set in mid sub tropical jungle - but close to falls ( 20 mins in bus?) Away from the town, but free bus service twice a day ( we didnt bother to go into the town).

We had a downstairs room and had no noise probelms during our stay. We loved the wooden walk ways from the rooms to the pool/ restaurant area. Would have loved the flare lights to have been lit!

Room large, clean, well air conditioned. Pool area very pleasant - loved the squidgy sofas by the pool, in the evening. Food in restaurant a little limited both at evening and breakfast but sufficient in quality and quantity. Didnt bother us but level of English at reception a little limited - we had to help out an Australian family who were haveing problems making themselves understood!

Dear guest,
We really appreciate your comment!
It has been a pleasure received in your short stay in Puerto Iguazú. Unfortunately, the days that you visited us, was raining, so that the torches could not be lit.
We appreciate your help immensely with the language for our receptionist!

Kind regards,

This is a really difficult hotel to find. Once found, your hopes are not all that great. However, the rooms are a delight with a screened poarch in the middle of what seems a forest. The feeling of being somewhere special is there. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is good! I would love to spend a week there.

My father and i quietly arrived in the afternoon of Wednesday. The premise is lovely. The rooms are very well designed. We stayed in the last unit on the floor only bungalows to the far left. Felt private. Had a nice dinner. I had meat and my dad fish named, pacu, Then dad violently startted at 3am am, my father was sick for hours. I work in a Canadian ER, he had not a gastro infection. fooding poisoning, first things morning, ! I told the attending male concierce at desk who only continued to take my pesos for extenuating water bills. No problem! I instead of 10am check out ,i easily negogiated 12:00. i also spoke to several local restaurant staff about food poisoning, of a out concern for the other travellers . That my dad is sick of their food! Th Etion and rooms great. Of concern, staff truly they appear if my dad was someone sick and get him, out and have someone else deal with it. elsewhere. we did move elsewhere next day as planned. It took 2/. 5 days mojo back.t

We stayed at the the lodge in July and it was pretty chilly out (no getting into the unheated pool).

Complaints: Soooo noisy in the bottom units. If you are looking for a peaceful sleep, do whatever it takes to get moved upstairs. If everyone would be respectful and keep noise levels down (especially in the early hours of the morning), all guests could thoroughly enjoy their rooms (and there would be no need to bang things on the ceiling or the walls so people get the message and quiet down). People banging up and down the stairs could even hear us saying "ssshhhhh" from inside our room (paper-thin walls).

If you are vegetarian and/or celiac (follow a gluten-free diet), good luck with the food. The meat eaters in our group did NOT enjoy the BBQ meat ... but we are used to Alberta beef! Get to the buffet very early or you risk not getting anything.

Positives: The room was lovely and clean (even by our *very* fussy standards). We found the staff to be very helpful and pleasant. We were surprised to have to pay extra to have our child stay with us in our room though ...

Tips: Get on the bikes and head down the road! We turned left at the end of the "driveway" and rode our bikes forever. We discovered a group of Argentinian children out playing soccer, along with one brave adult! They were sweaty and filthy but having SO much fun. We had Canadian souvenirs along with us so we went back to our room, packed a bunch of them up (including a red Canadian soccer ball and Canada tattoos for everyone) and went back to surprise them. Although we spoke no Spanish, and they no English, the giving of gifts crosses all language barriers and those little children and their "coach" were so thrilled. There is an Argentinian village within walking distance from the lodge. If you want to experience the same great joy we did, take gifts for the children.

We "happened" upon a cab driver and we would highly recommend him to everyone staying at the lodge.

Cacho de Lima (Cel: 03757 - 15500453).

Cacho spoke some English but was very honest, reasonable, and prompt. He helped us with the Argentina-Brazil border crossing and paid all of our entrance fees at the various attractions (to assist us with the exchange and stuff). We reserved him for a few days and paid everything at the end. He also drove us to a very good souvenir shop in the town.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on the top floor.

Dear Guest.

We appreciate your comments. We are working on a daily basis to improve the quality of rest of our guests, assuring isolate sounds.

With regard to the restaurant, we have options for vegetarians and celiac, both in the menu of snacks and dinner, we regret that we have not been able to explain you properly.

About Argentinian villages, we are organizing day trips to the native village, for all our guests to enjoy this beautiful experience.

Thanks very much for your time,

I think this is the best place to stay. I cannot understand it only was rankend number 11. The rooms are great, how often do you have a jacuzzi in the room. The bed and shower is good. I read that some people complain about the food. I do not understand this. Breakfast was excellent, so much choice. One of the best I had in Aregntinia. Also diner was really good, I must admit you must make a reservation and you can only can pick out of 3 but the quality is so good. Try the fish, best fish I ever had. Normally you have one met dish, one fish dish and one veggi dish. Also I stayed in a room on the first floot. People did complain about it. I do not understand this. Okay you can hear if some one it shiffting something on the room above but that is all, and how often will this happen. Something really small, it does smell a bit damp but that is logically. You are in the rain forest with a anual rain fall of 1700 mm that is so much. No one can help this. Comes with being in the rainforest.

We stayed here for 3 nights to see the falls after a trip to the Pantanal area of Brazil. The hotel is conveniently situated for visiting the Argentinian side of the falls, but beware the border crossing to the Brazilian side can be busy and take some time.
The hotel is spread over a wide area with wooden gangways giving a great sense of being close to nature. Rooms are spacious with a huge, comfortable bed. The large wood clad dining room which has been criticised in the past was being painted the day we left, the "white-wash" effect looks much better. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Beware the breakfast! The usual cooked fare on offer, but look away if you have a sweet tooth and expanding waistline. There was an amazing selection of cakes and pastries on offer, but, hey, you are on holiday so dig in!

Room Tip: Wooden floors mean a lot of transmitted noise on the ground floor so book an upstairs room.

We recently returned from a 4 night stay at Cantera Jungle Lodge and overall we had a very positive experience there.

We stayed in a superior room, on the second floor and found it to be spacious and very comfortable. The balcony with the hammock was a nice place to kick back and relax. Breakfast was standard, but certainly sufficient: fresh fruit, assorted pastries, bread, cheese, cold cuts, fresh OJ, yogurt, and eggs upon request (since we did not get these, we are not sure if there was an extra charge or not). The pool and grounds were lovely. And finally, on the whole, the staff were very helpful, friendly, and attentive (fresh OJ on arrival!) and only on a few occasions did we feel they were pushing a particular service.

The negatives: I am not sure I would entirely count this as a negative, but since the hotel is in the middle of the jungle, which is what gives it its charm and character, it is far from the town, where the restaurants are located. One night we ate at the hotel restaurant, and while it certainly wasn’t bad, for the price you can get something much better in town. The cab to the town will cost 40 pesos each way. The hotel offers a shuttle service which we used, it leaves the hotel at 6:30pm in the evening and returns at 8:30, which is sufficient time to eat dinner in town. Finally, if you arrange things (e.g. transportation to the parks, airports, etc) directly with cab drivers it will be cheaper than if you ask the hotel to do it.
