On arriving, we were greeted with a glass of fresh orange juice which, sadly, was the high point of the visit. The proferred orange juice, it seemed, was merely to stall for time while they found us a room - they clearly were not expecting us, despite having booked months in advance. When we did get to our room we found that we had been put in a double room. My travel partner and I are not a couple and requested twin beds. A long time after we flagged this up, the bed was then divided into 2 and moved a staggering 4 inches apart from each other, essentially mainting the doublt room experience. It also came to our attention that our room only provided facillites for one person - one glass, one chair, etc. There was also no fridge. This was rectified, but we nevertheless slightly bemused.

A long list of woes followed these initial revelations - a filfthy pool, broken light switches and remote control, a safe with a key rather than a code (we really did wonder just how many members of staff might have access to our posessions!), filthy sheets which were merely turned over rather than changed, despite our request for clean ones, dreadful food (it takes A LOT to put me off my food but this proved the exception), slow and frankly resentful service from all but one member of staff. We walked into the town in order to have a decent meal and to buy some water as this was also limited at the hotel. It was a 40 minute walk in, and a taxi ride back as the water was very heavy - all in all an expensive venture.

The crowning glory to this nightmare trip was the flight back to Brazil the next day. The hotel wouldn't let us book our own taxi, we had to let them book it for us. This was double the price of the taxi that had taken us there, (which we had booked ourselves), and we were rather left with the feeling that we'd been massively ripped off. Having told the hotel what time we needed to be at the airport in order to check in in good time, they neglected to take into account the time lag between Argentina and Brazil. We got in long after check in had closed and the last passengers were boarding the plane. How we actually got on the flight, with our luggage, I will never know!

The problem with this resort, beautiful though its remote surroundings are, is that once there you really are stranded. In order to leave it's either a long walk or an expensive taxi booked through the hotel, and after only a couple of days we couldn't wait to get out. We really were made to feel as if we were inconveniencing the staff and it made for a very uncomfotable stay. They didn't even give us enough loo roll and when we asked for more, our request was met with much rolling of eyes, a deep sigh and, after much scrabbling around under the desk at reception, we were finally furnished with a half used ripped roll. This was our last night there and at this point we felt like crying. We joked that we would laugh about this experience at some point. I'm writing this review in February, 4 months later, and I'm still not laughing yet!

My advice - if you're in Iguazu to see the falls, book a hotel that's actually on sight in the National Park. What you miss out in 'jungle experience', you will surely gain in being able to eat, drink and go to the loo with peace of mind!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and with 2 hammocks. Make sure it is clear how many people will be sta...

This lodge is situated off the beaten track...quite far from the falls. That should not be a deterrent though as the hotel offers a reasonably priced shuttle to and from the hotel, departing at 8:00 and returning at 3:30. The lodge is situated in the jungle, far removed from the main road so it is quiet and peaceful... a welcome refuge after the insanity of travelling or visiting the crowded falls. It is an experience to be living in the jungle...surrounded by trees and the undergrowth. Access throughout the hotel is provided by way of walkways so one does not disturb nature and vice versa.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed...We had a king sized bed...snd the bathrooms are modern and include spa lije tub/shower combination. I loved the added bonus of a screened-in porch with a hammock and chairs. The added bonus of air conditioning was most welcome as the nights were hot and muggy.

The swimming pool offered welcome relief from the heat of the day and the restaurant offered good food...a limited but very delicious number of menu choices.

The service was excellent...the staff very friendly and helpful even when we had problems they were happy to help.

This is a hotel I would return to!!!

A great location and rooms and swimming pool are lovely. The downside was the extremely slow service and disorganisation in the restaurant in the evenings. They need to get this up to scratch. However, the addition of a free jungle walk with an expert and a shuttle service to the nearest town more than made up for this.

We were a group of 5 friends who recently travelled to South America for a 4 week holiday. We visited Brazil, Peru and Argentina. We had an amazing stay at La Cantera Lodge. The lodge is located within a beautiful part of the jungle and truly allows you to relax in the tranquil environment. We spend most of our time in the pool just relaxing and enjoying some of the exotic cocktails. The rooms are beautiful and allow you to enjoy the beauty of the jungle all around you. Our trip was booked by Imagine Latin America and I would like to commend them for an excellent choice on accommodation!

Imagine Latin America organised our trip to Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Everything worked like clockwork and this hotel was perfect for visiting the falls. Katherine couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring out itinerary was just right. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms and bathroom are spacious and modern. They have a minibus which goes into the town early evening and comes back a couple of hours later which is free though we only found about it by chance - they don't tell you much when you arrive. One evening the driver didn't come to take us back but the taxi wasn't very expensive. The town itself is a typical tourist town with lots of tacky souvenir shops but there are some decent restaurants.
The Falls are amazing. Imagine Latin America organised a boat trip which was fantastic - you will get drenched - wear a swimsuit under your clothes and put your clothes in the dry bag they give you. Katherine at ILA told us about the helicopter over the falls and the bird park. We did both. The helicopter is expensive, $110 each, but worth it. The bird park on the Brazilian side was wonderful. We made our own way back by bus as the cost of being picked which the guide on the coach quoted seemed high, especially after forking out for the chopper and bird park. You have to get off the bus at the border with your passport. The bus doesn't wait so you have to hang on for the next one which can take ages so be prepared to to get a bus of a different bus company and pay again - but it's not expensive. The falls are one of the best things we've seen, along with Perito Morena.

Fun, fun, fun! Beautiful hotel in the jungle. The location was great for the falls, the staff were very nice and helpful. Great staff and super restaurant. Pool also a real highlight. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the falls.
Comfortable room, "jungle" experience, nice pool, good breakfast.

The hotel is located in the middle of jungle. I liked the location. Likely the hotel was opened just 3 to 4 years ago, so it is still in good shape imo. We stayed there for 4 nights.
There was a bathtub (I don't think that was Jacuzzi like advertised in hotel's web site) in terrace in addition to shower inside of room. There was a bird's nest just next to the terrace, and our kids were looking at baby birds in the nest long time.
We also enjoyed pool. The pool may not be huge enough for adults to swim but good for small kids to play.
The hotel provided some complimentary services to guests such as shuttle to city (very limited seats, twice a day for a 2-hour stay each time) and free guided nature walk. The guide was really nice.
Food was excellent at hotel's restaurant imo though waiters may have some room to improve skills. Especially we loved special dinner event for Argentine barbecue with live music. By the way, you have to make a reservation for dinner and you should do it early enough. The restaurant cannot always accommodate all hotel guests and there are no other restaurants around the hotel.
Hotel staff was really kind and supportive. They are not city people showing no expression. Also they allowed me to use phone even for international call without charge.
We really enjoyed staying at the hotel. It was definitely one of my best vacations in my life though it was really expensive vacation. I want to visit there again someday...
