“Incredible hotel that needs more work to deserve 5 stars”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

As many people suggest, this hotel is stunning in terms of decoration and location. Placed in the middle of the forest, everything is beautiful. That's why it's a great contrast between this first impression and the service you receive. Considering it's a nominated 5 starts hotel, the food, attention and service in general is very poor. So you finally feel dissapointed because it's expensive enough to deserve much better duty.

This is a wonderful hotel located in the middle of the jungle. Our room was clean, spacious and luxurious – the same goes for the bathroom (with a big, nice tub and a rainwater shower) and the maids really paid attention to all details. We had a balcony and in the room there was a hammock which could be used outside. Very nice touch. The breakfast was great, although not a splendid as in other hotels in the same price range. The front desk was helpful with arranging taxis to the national park on both sides and we even did a short trip to Ciudad del Este (not much to see there, though). The only thing disappointing was the lack of free internet in the room. When staying at a hotel of this class and level of service I always find it very surprising that such a basic service is not included.

When staying here you have to accept some facts: The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, the real, subtropical jungle, so you have to take a taxi everywhere. There is no supermarket or any other stores nearby, but at least a bottle of complementary water was provided every day. And while the restaurant is good, it is pricey compared to other restaurants in the centre of Puerto Iguazu. But since we knew this and were prepared for this, it was a very enjoyable stay :)

I knew as soon as we turned off the main road into the woods surrounding LOI suites that we had found a wonderful hotel.

The lobby looked like an upscale ski lodge. To get to our rooms, we had to traverse bridges right out of Swiss Family Robinson. The rooms were exquisite. The shower was incredible. The bed was so comfortable. The pool was elegant. We came to see the Falls, but we almost didn’t want to leave the hotel.

My ONLY issue would be the lax customer service disposition, which is actually pretty typical in South America. In an empty bar with six staff members, you’re still going to wait 10 minutes to order a drink.

But on the way to see the Iguaçu Falls, we must have passed 10 hotels, and at each one I said, “I’m so glad we’re not staying THERE.”

LOI was not cheap, but I’m really glad we stumbled upon it.

The Loi Suites is a very nice hotel, definitely one of the best and most luxorious in the area. We had booked the Studio Junior Deck room but changed (paying the diffrence ourselves) to a Superior room as the studio we were given was on the ground floor, very dark and smelled a bit of mould. The superior room, on the other hand, was on the 3rd floor (top floor), light and had a fairly big balcony overlooking the jungle and the river. The rooms are clean and modern with great showers. The best thing about this hotel is the environment. It is located in the middle of the jungle, next to the river, and there are some paths for guests who wish to walk around in the jungle. The pool is amazing and very beautiful! The hotel claims to be a 5* hotel, which it isn't, I would rate it a clear 4. The reason for that is that the personnel is not service minded enough and therefor, you don't get that comfortable feeling of a 5* hotel. But it is a very nice hotel and I would stay there again if I went back!

Due to an overbooking I ended up staying three nights at Loi Suites. As a solo traveller I prefer smaller and more intimate hotels where the staff remembers you. Having said that, when you have to stay somewhere else than your initial booking, you could be far worse off!

I had a standard room which is still spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet and a generous tub. I liked the window into the bedroom letting in natural light. What I missed in my room was free wifi - this only works in the reception area. How come five star hotels are so stingy?

The pool area is gorgeous and when swimming in either of them you really feel like far away from home.

This is the perfect location for a visit of the falls! I booked a superior room and got a spacious modern room and a clean and comfortable bathroom. Design combined with jungle feeling. The hotel is really loacated in the middle of nowhere ... but offers all the necessary infrastructure. Around the ressort you find some trails for "discover" the woods and of course the river. You will find a nice pool and a good restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful. The suspension bridge is fun ... but also makes a lot of noise ... make sure you get a room in building no. 4 ... I guess this is the calmest building.

it was my third time at Iguazu Loi Suites: first, the food was average (not like the other times, those were amazing!), in fact disappointing. Second, the staff seemed upset, not liking what they were doing. Finally, the hotel got more expensive, maybe because of the currency exchange at this time. But, what made me write this review was the terrible way the employee accepted US dollars ( I have used twenty dollar bills collected straight from an ATM, in LA), checking the bills like I was a criminal or something. Sad finale. My final impression is that Loi Suites, wich was built to be a top quality hotel for the region, decided to change into something different. The hotel is still beautiful, but the rest of it...

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the jungle
