Guira Oga is a rescue and rehabilitation centre for animals seized mainly from illegal domestic collections or anmals injured on roads etc. The centre is wonderfully constructed with the animals and birds being kept a long way into the forest and away from roads and noise. The centre features fantastic artwork on boards and you are taken into the holding area on a trailer pulled by a tractor. There is then a walk through the centre accompanied by a guide (several languages available including English). Carlos, our guide was excellent and told us al about the centre and its work as well as intriducing us to the wide range of animals and birdlife living in the centre as well as showing us the feeding arangements and preparation areas. Toucans are well represented as are marmosets, howler monkeys, parrots etc. The centre is doing great work and making progress and is well worth a visit. Tours are 3 times daily -we took the 1400hrs tour. You definetly learn a lot on this tour.

I've visited animal sanctuaries around the world but this one stands out in my mind as one of the most unique and inspiring. The work they are doing to rehabilitate birds of prey is amazing and innovative. It's a tall order to teach a bird to hunt prey in a safe environment, and they have figured out some great learning methods for their charges. It's a beautiful place to learn about jungle life, see some amazing birds up close, and experience a different side of Iguazu.

This animal refuge does excellent work! Very cheap entry, full guided tour in English or Spanish, many different animals to see. Highly reccommend it!

The first day I got to Iguazu I had to choose between Guira Oca and the birds sanctuary on the Brazilian side. I personally like animals the way they are born and meant to be: free.
Guira Oga is a good initiative, as it does help animals which have been hurt and rescued in various ways (and the guides give plenty of examples). The cages are not big, but the animals are well keep and honestly seem to be happy. I like to contribute to this kind of initiatives and whoever does should go and visit. The tour is guided and a good value for the money.

This wildlife centre makes it clear that they are not a zoo - they specialise in the rehabilitation and release of animals that have been seized, injured, abandoned etc.

The bilingual guide was very informative and you get a chance to get very close to the wildlife, great for taking photos. The tour is about 2 hours with some easy walking involved.
