“Jungle Hideaway”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

This place pleasantly surprised me. Stayed here for one night in February for a weekend visit to Iguazu Falls, after taking an overnight bus from Buenos Aires. They let us check in early, 10am, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is a series of cabins spread across a large jungle property, with each cabin having 2-4 rooms. The rooms are large, air conditioned, and well appointed with jacuzzi tubs and modern fixtures. The rooms had cable television and wifi.

The pool area, which is advertised heavily, is relatively nice but rather dead - only a few people were ever there during our stay. We played a little ping-pong on the poolside table at dusk, a random fun experience. The dinner served at the hotel was very good but a little pricey. The only real downside to the hotel is the location. It's located on the outskirts of Port Iguazu so unless you're only spending one night at the hotel (like us) it could be a pain to get into town for dinner, etc. But it is one of the last stops the buses make on their way to the Falls, so from that perspective the location is great!

This hotel was a unique experience that I think anyone wanting to get a taste - but not a mosquito-filled, creepy-critter infested taste - of the jungle should absolutely take advantage of. Walking through the lit path through the jungle on the way back to our room from dinner we stopped and saw hundreds of ants carrying little leaves that had fallen from the tree back to their hill. You won't get that at a regular hotel. Stay here and you won't be sorry.

We went there just for 2 days in our vacation ending.

REALLY QUIET place. You'll feel like if you were in the jungle. The paths to the rooms are really fantastic!

Swimming pool is nice!

Personnel of the hotel is really nice and always ready to help. We requested a room change (because the one give had a lot of humidity smell) and they did the best they could to help me with that, and changed us to another one.

The Bad: Don't know why is called "Spa", you won't have relax massages service or even a sauna.

We (a group of 5 couples) needed a hotel for 2 nights while visiting the Falls. We wanted a jungle experience and the Aldea gave us that at a reasonable rate. The staff was great. We had 2 breakfasts, lunch by the pool and one dinner in the main dining room. The food was fine. The pool area is really pretty. The whole property is nice. I did feel a little like I was at summer camp when I got to my room. It was pretty basic and had a musty odor. I realize it must be hard to keep things fresh in a humid jungle. I didn't like the smell of my sheets or pillows either. There was a window in the bathtub/shower stall. The window had some flimsy blinds. I don't think it would have bothered me if the room was facing the jungle but ours was beside the front steps to the 4-plex. We would stay again and we would recommend La Aldea to friends. We all wished we had planned a third day there. 3 other couples in our group opted to stay at the Loi Suites. It was more expensive and further from town. Comparing notes afterwards, it was probably more elegant.

We had the most wonderful time in this hotel. Its exciting location in the jungle, the thoughtful detail behind the decor both in the common areas as well as in our room, the helpful front desk, its easy access to both the village and the falls, its amenities and large breakfast, the privacy of the rooms, the thoughtfully placed umbrellas everywhere to protect from the unpredictable rain - perfect! The Iguazu falls were breathtaking but we felt like the exotic jungle experience continued even when we returned to the hotel! Am telling everyone about this unexpected find!

I lovely hotel hidden away in the jungle. The rooms are all in blocks of 4 but are cleverly arrange so that once in your room you cannot see anything other than the jungle that surrounds you. The rooms are very unique, clean and tide. After a long and hot day at Iguazu Falls we went to find the hotel's pool to cool off. A perfect end to a fantastic day.

We were quite tired on our first night and so decided to eat in. We had a lovely meal and so decided to eat in again the following night!

A unique experience to try when visiting the Iguazu Falls - our large suite overlooked the jungle with verandah and hammock as well but an easy walk to the main dining room. After a day spent at the Falls ( which are amazing - do the Grand Adventure boat ride ) we were ready to return to this hidden gem. Yes, it's not fancy but the food is good, the pool area is wonderful, breakfast is abundant, and the service is warm and friendly. would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Private room with balcony on to jungle is amazing!

Very nice place, stayed here when I was in Argentina in Nov 2011 while visiting Iguassu falls. The trip to the falls takes about 35mins by car, but can be arranged by the helpful hotel staff. The small driver is very friendly and helpful & always smiling.

The lodge is so relaxing, seemingly miles away from the roads and other industrial sights and sounds and nestled in the middle of a forrest. The pool is nice although it is more for cooling off than for swimming in as it is a curvy shape.

The food wasnt amazing but was perfectly acceptable if a bit over priced. I ate at the hotel the first night and then went into the local town for dinner at a bbq type place thereafter. The restaurant is next to the reception and often had live local music which added to the atmosphere.

The food you can order next to the pool is quite simple (burgers, chicken sandwhiches, fries etc) and it is fairly priced.

Breakfast was pretty good, there was a selection of fresh fruits, cakes/pastrys, cereals, fruits hams & cheeses and quite a few fruit juices to pick from.

I stayed in one of the lodges in the forrest, it can get quite noisy at night with the animals. Some large creature (probably a monkey) jumped on the tin roof at night which startled me quite a lot. All part of the fun!

My lodge had a hammock on the balcony which looked out into the forrest, and also had a nice jacuzzi bath which was great after a day of walking around at the waterfalls.

Highly recommend at least considering this hotel if you are taking a trip to see the waterfalls, you will never forget it.
