“Not great”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2011

Our dorm was seriously cramped, smelly and dark. The bathrooms are really dirty and disgusting. Kitchen facilities terrible. The bread at breakfast was stale and there wasn't enough of anything for the few people staying at the hostel. Hostel Sweet Hostel has potential but seriously needs updating!

Stayed for 2 nights, booked a private guest house double room. Filthy and disgusting, smelt worse than anything i have ever known and the sheets were dirty, we actually found a large collection of ginger pubes. The room was freezing, anything listed on the website was fiction. NO WIFI! breakfast was abominable, cold coffee or cheap juice, and dry bread or a handful of cornflakes. Would stand outside and ward off any future travellers were I sticking around any longer. Horrendous and will be reporting it to the Lonely planet that reccommends it. Plus, there is no forum to comment on the website and no one wanted to hear the complaints, this is no coincidence. Absolutely vile.

This was the dirtiest hostel I've ever been in. The washrooms were disgusting with mold everywhere. The people in the room beside me had cats lying in their beds and on their clothes. There was NO security and the pool was filthy. The employees are nice but they need to update the place. I left after one night to a different hostel down the road.

So far this has been the worst hostel I've stayed in South America. Maybe I've been spoilt by Brazils breakfasts but a "great breakfast" is more than just bread, butter, cornflakes, milk, coffee and cordial (website says there is Ham, eggs, corn flakes, milk, bread, butter, jam, coffee, Tea, Juice and Fruits). Also basically the entire place was filled with a large tour bus group. And having internet tends to involve having a computer for people to use who don't have WIFI. Also I booked through there site which says the prices are valid till July and the guy at check-in said they had expired in December (not that it was a pulic holiday so they were invalid).

This hostel is in the Ok category, though suffering from the ready stream of visitors that come from a reference in a guide book. There is little need top make an effort.

Not only was I allocated an already allocated and relocated to a less expensive room, the promised refund was not forthcoming. I was not the only person moved around because someone else had already been given the bed.

Breakfast of lukewarm coffee and yesterday´s bread, but the asado was good

They had no record of our reservation from their own web site, left us standing at reception for an hour. Then put my girlfriend in a seperate room to myself! Would have walked then if it wasn{t so late. Pool was green with slime, kitchen barely equiped and infested with bee swarm. Building has sewer issues too. Stay somewhere else. Don,t know what lonely planet was thinking recomending this place.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here in late february 2011. From the very promising website we booked a private room, thinking everything would be great, after reading the Lonely Planet "Argentina & Uruguay" edition and various other reviews.
However, the place was very disappointing.

The staff didn't care much for anything it seemed, and everything felt very unorganized. Here is a list of things that was wrong with this hostel:

1. Our room had mold on the walls and on the ceiling, both in the bathroom, on the ceiling and walls near the entrance and several corners of the room. You could smell the mold once you entered the room.
2. Breakfast was not good, as both the Lonely Planet and the Hostel says - it was simply some white bread, butter, coffee and omelet, served on what looked to be dirty/used dishes. There were bees and flies everywhere in and around the food, their idea of washing dished was to drizzle some water on the dishes.
3. Prices seem random. We booked a room for which the price was 130 pesos online, but ended up paying 180 pesos (when we asked why, the receptionist pointed to a pricelist on his wall that said 280 pesos and told us we already received a good price(!))
4. The Wifi didn't work until I asked for them to reboot the router. The next day the wifi only worked in the pool area. (very slow wifi..)
5. The pool was very dirty
6. complimentary towels were dirty and smelly

A very unpleasant stay!
