“Perfect Location!”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

Location: The Sheraton's perfect location as the only hotel inside the park makes this a worthwhile stay and it's why I'm giving them 4 stars. You can wake up a little earlier (8AM, really not that early) and beat the huge groups of tourists to get on the train to get to Devils throat.

Room: My friends and I spent two nights here (using some Starwood points). We had a jungle view room, pretty standard for Sheraton property.

Food: The hotel has one restaurant and a hotel bar with food --both with mediocre food. They both have amazing views of the Falls which make up for the what's lacking in the food.

If you are in Argentina and like to visit the Iguazu waterfalls, the Sheraton Iguazu Resort & Spa is a sort of compulsory choice as it is the only hotel that is facing the spectacular landascape of the falls. The location is excellent and fortunately, well-compensate the poor (almost non-existent) service. It is quite rare to find so many inaccuracies in a row in the service we (I was part of a group) received.
I asked a non-smoking room (apparently all the hotel is non-smoking). I was given a sort of cigar-room. After complaining, the housekeeper came with a spray, but only at the end I got another room. Rooms have very basic furniture and, at present, a large part of the hotel is under refurbishment (which we were not told at all). The view from the little terrace is great all day. I would recommend the view on the falls.
The check out process was a disgrace. Despite the hotel had been informed about the early check out of two, large groups, we ended facing one person at the reception desk who was trying to do his best, but it was clear he was totally lost as nobody at management level gave him instructions on what had to go on the group master bills and what was up to the guest. Outcome: 20 minutes of waiting.
We enjoyed a private dinner in one room, but the waiters had to be regularly asked to replenish the glasses with water and wine. Useless to add that they hardly cared for looking at the salad buffet that was in the room.
Again, the luck of the hotel is to be in the Iguazu park.

Room Tip: Try to get upgraded to a room with the view on the falls.

Yes, the Sheraton knows they can charge a premium for this location, but splurge if you can. The rooms on the left side (facing entrance) offer spectacular views of the falls. Guaranteed visits by monkeys and coatimundi at dusk. Very hospitable staff.

The highlight of this hotel is the setting...within sight and earshot of Iguacu falls. The falls are amazing and staying at the hotel allows you to experience them without waiting for the Park to open and during early mornings and evenings. The hotel itself is excellent, with very good food, amenities, pool, attentive and competent staff that you would expect at this level. The concierge was particularly helpful in arranging things like a helicopter or boat tour, and transportation to and from the airport. Highly recommended and worth the price.

A view straight to the Falls, just awesome! Worth it to pay a bit more to stay here and enjoy everything the Falls have to offer. We only stayed one night but were able to easily see all areas of the Falls. We had lunch, dinner, and breakfast at the hotel and everything was delicious. The breakfast that is included is great, a huge buffet, that was a nice surprise.

Be sure to do the Lower, Upper, and Devils Throat. Spectacular!! These Falls are everything you read. Not to be missed if you are in Argentina!

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the Falls!

We stayed here for two nights last week. We used a cash and points award thanks to our SPG card, this made the hotel much more affordable. I actually believe that if I had paid full freight on the room I would have been disappointed. For a $300+ room I expect 5-stars. While the location in the national park is 5 stars, the hotel falls a little bit short.

Being located in the park, you get early access to the falls, whether it be the lower trail, upper trail or even if you want to go to the Garganta del Diablo. Be aware that the first train to Garganta del Diablo is at 840am. When we waited for the train at the Cataratas station, the train was full from people boarding at the Central Station. We were pretty peeved that they didn't keep a train car open for people at the Cataratas station - since you are paying for the privilege of being in the park. However, we could have easily just have walked from the Cataratas station to the Garganta del Diablo. We did this after the first train was full, it took like 30 minutes. The path is next to the train tracks, and we saw some cool wildlife.

Back to the hotel. The rooms were clean and pleasant. We had a room on the Falls View side which was great. Someone told us monkeys sometimes hang around the hotel and climb on the balconies, so be sure to lock your doors. However, we didn't see any.

The breakfast buffet in the morning was great. Really recommend. They had a great selection and great service. For dinner, if you can get into Puerto Iguazu, you should do so. There is bus service, but it stops at like 7pm. Otherwise, you can take a cab. The cabs will wait 4 hours for you while you dine or do whatever in Puerto Iguazu, cost was 360 pesos round trip. Make some friends at the hotel and split a cab if you think it's expensive. It's worth it to get out! In room Internet wasn't the fastest, but hey you are in the middle of a jungle!

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay here. I recommend it, especially if you can get in for a price under full-freight. Also, they treat SPG elite members well.

Room Tip: Falls View, the higher the floor the better.

We stayed at the Sheraton for two nights in room 270? with a falls view. After reading previous reviews, I wasn't expecting a great room, but I was pleasantly surprised. We loved our room. We were on the end, and after reading the reviews, tried to get a higher room, to no avail, but this room was fabulous. Our view and patio were great and we enjoyed being on the end, next to a wooded area so we could view some wildlife as a bonus. I didn't expect to enjoy the falls view as much as I did. Our room was quiet, totally updated, great bed, nice bath. The window to the shower was kind of strange but we thought the room was nice. We ate in the bar one night, and the menu includes some healthy options, which I enjoyed. We relaxed by the pool in the afternoon and had a drink and the bartender was attentive and there were plenty of towels/umbrellas and chairs. The access to the park made for a relaxed falls experience. The front desk answered our questions appropriately, and arranged cabs in to town for dinner and to the airport. The included breakfast was good and plentiful.

Room Tip: Falls view worth the money. If lower floor, end rooms are better as there is a tree which blocks vie...
