We stayed here for 2 nights on the promotional rate advertised on their website of $235 pesos per night for a double ensuite room. The staff were very accommodating about our arrival just past midnight.

We were very pleasantly surprised by how huge the room was, the bathroom with a real bath was the biggest and most luxurious we've had in over 5 months travelling through South America. Wi-fi signal is very good throughout the hotel, including the rooms themselves.

We didn't use the pool or sauna, but they looked great. Breakfast was nice but typical Argentinian simple fare of croissants, bread, jam and coffee/tea and juice. Location was great, a stone's throw from the river in a beautiful building inside and out. Staff were great. I'd definitely stay again.

Colorful and rustic, not 100% comfortable, but worth the stay. Breakfast was good. Charming.

Room Tip: Get a room not very close to the entry door.

Hosteria del Puerto is a pretty, old building, located a minutes walk from the river on a pretty street. The rooms are colourful, with rustic wood furniture, and although a little tired, were clean and comfortable. The breakfast is a simple Argentian affair with medialunas and bread, coffee and juice. The hotel also serves dinner at night, and whilst a nice room with friendly staff the food is nothing special.

The staff are really helpful. Due to a 24 hour bus strike which we only learnt of when turning up at the bus station for our overnight bus, we returned to the Hotel for an unplanned 3rd night. Manuella was helpful in making suggestions about what to do the next day, and Eugenia who was working the next day was incredibly helpful. Both speak a reasonable level of English. Note there is a different rate if staying 3 nights or more. There is also free wifi and a computer in the breakfast room. Pretty courtyard, garden and swimming pool.

We were directed to the delightful Charlie Adamson to help us (note the Express Singer bus to Posadas picks up on the highway, NOT the bus station). Charlie is half Scottish, although has lived for most of his life in Argentina. He runs an eco tourism business, offices on Plaza San Martin www.itaicora.com offering tours into the surrounding area. He was a delight to meet, and was really kind to us.

Situated in an old Spanish style building with a lovely patio. The room itself was quite large and old fashioned. In short, it's old but nice old. There is a cozy restaurant as well which looks great but the food is nothing to write home about.

This is probably the nicest place to stay in this charming riverine town, 5 hours north of Buenos Aires. The two smarter hotels may have more comforts but they lack character. The Puerto has bags of it. It is right by the river and just a couple of blocks from the main square. Painted on the outside rose red and green, it has a large lobby, where a simple brekfast is served, and decorated with old photos of the town and family portraits. I had a real single room, with a narrow but comfortable bed. There was a gas heater (needed in Sep!) and a ceiling fan for the hotter months. The room gave onto a pretty courtyard. Larger rooms upstairs look out onto the street and may be a bit noisy as the town´s young men like speeding around noisily on the motor cycles. Staff were friendly and helpful, helping with onward reservations and taxis to the bus station.
Colon is certainly worth a night or two. The riverside is pretty, with views across to Uruguay, there are beaches for the hot summer months and at least one highly regarded eco-tour company offering river and bird-watching trips.
