Out of all the lakes in San Rafael are this was our favourite.
The combination of being in the middle of the mountains surrounded by little presence of mans settlements makes it unique!
Going for a boat or raft trip on the lake really does disconnect you from the world and make you realise just how beautiful the the world and life is.
We rented a raft boat from the dam which gives you around 2h worth of fuel which is more than enough to set of with your friends and family and discover the lake by yourself.
This included amazing looking islands, jumping off rocks, swimming in the emerald water, having an asado on the raft boat and enjoying G&T under the eternal blue sky and beaming sun!

We all cant wait to come again and stay for longer, maybe rent one of the houses by the lake.

Had a lot of fun here, swam in the clear water, made a boat trip.
The view is spectacular, and the peace of this place is amazing.
There are two camping places, in one of them you can do "tiro bangi" it was a very cool experience.

Deep blue green body of water contrasted with the stark desert and mountain surroundings was outstanding. Nothing to do there this time of year as it's 'off season".

This is a beautiful location but one heck of a drive to get there. It was pretty crowded when we went but the kids enjoyed swimming in the lake while we did the barbeque. Parking is very difficult to find, there are attendants to assist but they mostly suggest parking a distance away from the picnic area and then walking which wouldnt be so bad if you didn't have to carry your stuff up a fairly steep hill. Fortunately we did manage to find a place to park near by. There are boats for hire but we didn't take advantage of them, so can't comment on that activity. Not sure we would make the effort to go again. If it was closer to San Rafael, maybe we would.
