“Great location, good breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel during winter and we got a room that was not noisy. Breakfast was ok, staff was not soooo friendly, but polite. We had wifi that worked properly. Room was clean and comfortable. The best of this hotel is the location and reasonable prices. We liked it!

My superior room was pleasant enough and positively spacious, but suffered from noisy traffic outside, and it appears that most rooms of this size face the main road (8 de Julio). The bed was fine, and the shower/toilet had no issues; everything was acceptably clean.

I had some difficulty connecting to the internet with the wi-fi, but did eventually do so (it may have been a contention issue as there were vast numbers of teenagers at the start of my stay). This was a problem in the hotel as although I was on the first floor, it only picked up the second floor signal (but the passwords appear to be the same). At one stage I was reduced to accessing it from the landing.

The buffet breakfast is kept very well stocked even when they have a big party of hungry teenagers staying. It includes Croissants, Madeira cake, rolls, ham & cheese, a little fresh fruit (apples, oranges and bananas), jam, dulce de leche, uninspiring juice (but two varieties) and unlimited coffee, hot water and hot milk, which can be used for hot chocolate.

If the price is right (and it seems often to be a relative bargain) and you can put up with traffic noise (and this may also afflict other hotels in the centre) then it's a reasonable choice in a very central location.

Room Tip: If you can get one not facing the main street, it should be quieter.

Very small hotel. Two at front desk spoke good English, others not really. Speaking Spanish helps. Mostly older clients during my visit. In the centre of Mendoza. Walking distance to most city attractions, except wineries. Good restaurants and shops nearby. Ideal for mid-range flexible travelers looking for decent hotel room. Good w-ifi and hot water / air-con work well in executive room. Breakfast is a very basic Argentine buffet, no fruit or hot dishes. Carefour (super market) near light rail station is excellent. You can take the the Mendoza light rail to last stop to tour largest winery, Lopez and another close to station on main street. Buy red card and fare at convenience shops. I walked two miles each way from station to Winery museum, which was great, but would not recommend to others. You can rent bike at last station stop. Do not walk further than Lopez winery this is a very shady town. Argentinian police are useless.

Room Tip: Upgrade to executive room, only a little more and much better.

I just stayed at the Cordon del Plata and here are my thoughts:

Ups:

- Good location, spacious bedroom, shower was good, comfy bed, staff was ok and breakfast was regular. House keeping was good and cleanliness was not an issue.

Downs:

- Air con leaking, flush did not work on the last day leading to a smell of sewage, staff having breakfast at the front desk ( not very professional), furniture needs to be somewhat replaced, old televisions set, lift smelled like mold.

Also hairdryer stopped working, I has to ask the front desk staff 3 times to get replaced.

Therefore, you will not be super impressed and not super disappointed. Expect average overall.

Room Tip: Get a room towards the back as noise can be an issue, luckily we did.

The Hotel Cordon del Plata is a decent choice in the centre of Mendoza. It is good for mid-range travellers looking for comfortable rooms. The Hotel has good wifi and hot water / air-con work well. Breakfast is a basic Argentine buffet. If you are looking for luxury, this is not for you. If you are looking for a good night's sleep without breaking the wallet, then go for it!

Recently I booked this hotel on Booking.com
Due to restriction of the rental car we could not travel from Santiago de Chile to Mendozo. Both booking.com and the hotel refused any compensation using each other as reason. Two rooms went down the tube.
We would have accepted a fee, but taking the whole price was really a bummer. Next time better deal with the hotel directly .

Its fantastic location - in the downtown's heart, on 9 de Julio street - doesn't attenuate the poorness and plainness of this said to be 3-star hotel, ranked as the best of its category in town. Friendly, but very informal, neglecting and unprofessional front desk staff causes a very bad first impression. My single room, booked thru an important reservation website, was disastrous - for lacking comfort and space. Therefore, yeat cheap, it has been way to much for what I got. Air conditioner needed to be fixed upon my arrival as it lacked the control buttons, either lost or stolen. Safety box available. Bathroom was absolutely clean, but very small and plain. Breakfast was terrible - just a few options of mostly sweet food - and the buffet was poorly, carelessly arranged and managed. TV image was disastrous.

Room Tip: Never take rooms 102 or 202 as they are as small as monkey's cellars. One must be either standin...
