We chose the Uco Valley tour to get higher and closer to the Mountains. The landscape was pretty well arid with low scrub on gravel and sand. These wineries are rather new in the Mendoza region. The first winery was basically a concrete box, devoid of any style. The wine tasting was good. The second winery was new, no vines surrounding the building but the wine tasting was good with fantastic empanadas served. This is a family run organization and the owner was very interesting to talk with. The third winery was the fanciest and it was spectacular. The 6 course lunch was incredible food pared with excellent wines. Though we enjoyed the tour, we would have preferred an area where there is more vegetation. ( the other Ampora tour?) The guide Alex was extremely knowledgeable about the whole wine industry and about Mendoza wines. There isn't 't a question he couldn't answer. The value for this tour might be considered low. Overall it was a good day! I couldn't quite give the tour a firm 4 star rating.
