After travelling around most of Argentina and encountering a zillion Plazas and Avenues named San Martin, it is finally nice to see a memorial (explanation signs are also in English) to the man who liberated Argentina, Peru and Chile from the Spaniards and the Ejercito de los Andes. The hill top also offers fine views of the city.

Great view of the city, interesting memorial sculpture. Rode bus to top and walked down the trail. A lot of fun.

We started our walk to the top of Cerro de Gloria from the Park Hyatt. You walk through a gorgeous residential neighborhood with some of the largest homes we had seen in Mendoza. Then, you get the entrance of the park and just keep following the signs to the top. The walk in the park is shaded by large trees on both sides of the trail, so even though it was a warm day, the trees provided just the right amount of shade for us. Also, it's not a steep climb at all - more like a long walk - so it should be easy for most people to make.

The hardest park of the walk/hike is when you get very close to the top of the hill. It becomes very steep, and I felt bad for people trying to make the walk in sandals. Definitely wear tennis shoes next time!

When we got to the top, the view was amazing. You can see for miles in all directions and get a great view of the Andes. We reached the top at about 4 p.m., so by that time, the sun was already behind the mountains, making them look like dark, ominous hills in the background. You can also catch a great view of the city of Mendoza and the stadium.

The park and walking paths are both kept very clean. Restrooms and a concession stand are available at the base of the hill, so no need to bring your own water or snacks.

From the Hyatt to the top, it took us about an hour and a half to get to the top.

Apart from the wonderful 360º monument and the piece of Argentine history present there, the views are wonderful. Go up, you won't regret it,
