“Good choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2010

It was a good choice to spend 3 days in Mendoza. Hotel is in the strict city center. The staff is really nice and helpful and the breakfast is just awesome! good choice and quality! the only drawback we found is that the room we had (facing a small swimming pool) has this smell of humidity which can be annoying. We did not opt to change the room as qe were only there to sleep, but it's better to let you know this beforehand. There is a city bus to the long distance bus terminal just round the corner. Even though they have the wi-fi it seemed not to work in our room, but the two computers in the lounge were enough to satisfy our needs. it is not the best hotel I have stayed in, but definitly a smart choice for mendoza!

This hotel has a great location and was very affordable.

Pros:
- free breakfast, which was a small buffet of juice, breads and cheeses
- free wifi in rooms
- friendly service
- large bathroom
- great location
Cons:
- the tv was very small and mounted high on the wall
- bed was not very comfortable
- barbed wire fence outside the room's window was somewhat sketchy, but we saw no one/nothing during our time in Mendoza that would indicate the area was un-safe, even at night

If you are looking for luxury or really anything fancy, this isn't your hotel. But if you are looking for a great location, decent room, friendly service and good value, stay here.

The best thing about the Argentino Hotel was definitely its location, right in the center of the city on Plaza Indepencia within easy walking distance of tons of restaurants and shops. The front desk staff was friendly and helped track our missing luggage. The rooms were very small and sparse, though, and the breakfast was good enough but definitely nothing to write home about. Not a bad place to stay if you're looking for a decent, clean, moderately priced place, but I probably would try somewhere else next time.

The hotel is across the street from one of the largest squares in Mendoza. When we were searching for a hotel via TA I had wanted a hotel on one of the smaller squares or parks. This was perfect! It is not Buenos Aires; similar construction, much smaller with fewer pedestrians. Also, the hotel location allowed access to restaurants and the pedestrian mall or street. The breakfast was good. The hotel receptionist spoke English but usually there was only one busy person on duty. We did receive or need much tourist assistance from the hotel. Our first evening while searching for a restaurant we went into a travel agents office & arranged for a hot springs, spa tour for the next day. What a bargain! And what fun. We did not do any wine tours but visited with people who did. If we returned to Mendoza we would stay here again.

The Argentino Hotel, directly across from the Plaza Indepencia in downtown Mendoza is a great choice for those who would like to tour the vineyards but also dine and roam the city!
Our front desk manager, Tamara, was very helpful in advising My group on the best restaurant's and attractions in this very nice city at the base of the Andes. Chorizo, Vaccio, and of course Malbec are the main attractions here and as We found on the 3rd night, The hotel's restaurant is quite adept at making for a truly fine culinary experience! Tamara also arranged to have an auto delivered by Sixt car rentals to the hotel so We could tour the vast wine region. Many incredible vineyards, but seek out Pulenta Estates south of Mendoza. Andrea, Soledad and Manuel , Pulentas winemaker, will share their great Gran Malbec, Cabernet Franc and an amazingly nice Pinot Noir with You! thank You Argentino Hotel!!

hotel argentino overall is a very good value. the hotel is pretty clean and has nice marble bathrooms. our bedroom was very small (smaller than it appeared on their online photo gallery) and the bed was not comfortable. the bed was actually two twin beds that were pushed together so one side was slightly higher than the other side. the shower had good water pressure but the temperature would vary greatly -- you would set it to the temperature you´d like and then it would get at times super hot and then cold...so hardly ideal. the breakfast was good and featured croissants, fresh fruit, toast and cereal. and, there are two computers in the lobby that you can use. another huge plus is its fantastic location. you are smack in the middle of the city and easy walking distance to great restaurants, bars, wine bars, etc. the service was o.k. they forgot to pick up our laundry but the front desk was helpful making dinner reservations, ordering taxis, etc.

My trips to Argentina involve arriving in Mendoza followed by a long drive, so I often look for an overnight before the drive south. After 2 trips I found this gem of a hotel nestled adjacent to the marvelous central park in Mendoza. The front desk staff speak great English, are warm and welcoming, the room was comfortable, and a great free Internet link. There is a nice private and quiet outdoor area with small pool, and a well-lit indoor lounge to sit and relax, or work. Location is great - within 30 seconds across the street you can walk in the elegant park, or a little farther to street cafe's and restaurants. Hint: When you arrive look for the two free parking spaces opposite the hotel while you check in - I parked in a paid spot, still cheap, but missed the free parking. Just a great place to stay and recharge.
