Description: Ituzaingo is a close doors restaurant in the most bohemian neigbourhood from Mendoza. The building is a loft wich shows real mendocinean lifestyle. The atmosphere is very eclectic style and combines artistic expresions (paintings and sculptures). The food is mostly tradional Argentine Cuisine in a real gourmet style. Wines are from the personal cellar of the owner (no wine list). The phrase for our concept is:¨Ituzaingo is a restaurante but still a house, welcome.

This is far and away one of the better experiences we had in Mendoza. Gonzalo is a fantastic host and the food is absolutely phenomenal. More than anything, this places goes well beyond the food, its about the experience. Try it, i promise you will like it.

I had never tried a "closed dining" experience before but I think this will be the first of many. You are invited into Gonzalo's home and warmly greeted by Gonzalo and his team. Several courses of wine and appetizers are served while you converse with everyone and learn about the region, the food and wine. Everything is done at a very casual pace and you are not rushed in any way - in fact, sitting in his living room during appetizers, you feel more like family than guests.

Following the appetizers, you can choose where you want to enjoy your entree - we opted for the patio to enjoy the calm night air. We then were treated to one of the best filet mignon steaks I have had along with several side dishes (don't forget even more wine)! At the conclusion of the main course, we had a wonderful dessert too.

Gonzalo's home is very artsy and intimate. We enjoyed our conversation in English with no communication issues. When we were ready to leave, they arranged a taxi for us. I would highly recommend this option for a wonderful and relaxing evening of dining.

When you enter someone's home and the hallway is lined with bottles of wine, you know a special evening is in store. Gonzalo is a superlative host and creates a magical evening in a locale that serves as both his residence and restaurant. The setting is intimate, sophisticated, and romantic with many of the tables located in a "secret," lush courtyard in the rear of his home. It's a lovely setting with indirect and subtle lighting that could pass as an exclusive restaurant in Rome or Paris. As an added touch Titi, his boxer, is a comical canine with personality galore. Gonzalo, fluent in English and Spanish, hosts about a dozen or so guests for the evening and welcomes everyone to partake in a communal gathering of empanada sampling and conversation. During our two-week trip, these were hands-down the best empanadas we tasted. Excellent! While sharing stories, we savored other appetizers and a different wine accompanied each flight of delicacies. When it came time for the main course, we went to his library and selected a wine of our choosing to take to our table. Not so fond of the Malbecs we had tasted on the trip, I opted for an older Syrah from northern Argentina. It turned out to be the best bottle of the entire trip! As for the main course, it was a superb steak, cooked rare as requested, and served with a savory chimichurri sauce and potato prepared in a unique manner. It appeared to have been baked, flattened, then sauteed. Wow! A potato has never tasted so delicious, and the steak was marvelous. Kudos to Gonzalo, kudos to the young woman that effortlessly served us, and extra kudos to the outstanding chef who diligently prepared our exceptional meal. How he managed the entire meal for all of us from that tiny kitchen was amazing.

Wow! We had a great experience at Ituzaingo. Gonzalo our host made us feel at home in his home. Ituzaingo is located on a quiet street in the city of Mendoza. The place is very deceiving from the outside. When you come inside you discover a very tasteful setting from living room, wine rack to the outdoor seating. The courtyard is beautiful, with seating arranged in different settings under the canopy of large trees surrounded by very high walls. Gonzalo has created a warm and elegant space outside. The waiter Sabastion was very attentive and took great pride in the restaurant explaining each dish and adding the fact that even the breads were all made in-house.My wife and I selected the Beef Filet (Lomo) for dinner and a great Malbec chosen by Gonzalo. Both were amazing. The beef was cooked to perfection and very tender. We had an assortment of dulce de leche desserts which I tried very hard to finish. The chef came out to great us and Gonzalo was the perfect Host. When we return to Mendoza, we won't miss a chance to come back to Ituzaingo Resto. Ciao
