We booked this hostel because of the good reviews on hostelbookers and tripadvisor, but this was the worst hostel we've ever stayed at. Unfortunately we couldn't leave right away, but we managed to book another - great! - hostel around the corner for our other nights in Mendoza.

The worst thing about the hostel was our room. It was smelly, very very tiny and dirty. There was no proper linnen (it just wouldn't fit), so we just slept on the dirty mattress. Also there's no proper common / living room, the breakfast room looked like a storage room for old mattresses and furniture, the breakfast itself was just some cereal and tea, the kitchen is not well-equipped, there's only one (!) shower (and two toilets) for the whole hostel, the shower is very dirty and last: the staff was unfriendly and didn't speak English.

In short: don't go here! There are better places to stay in Mendoza, for almost the same price. We weren't the only guests who were leaving for these better places after one night in Mendoza Lodging.

After staying here for 4 nights, I have mixed feelings about this place. The location was great, and it was a good value considering we had a private room (double and twin bed) and ensuite bathroom for a little over $40USD/night.

BIG downside - the owner(?), Gustavo, smokes in the lobby. Our room was directly off the lobby, so needless to say we smelled the smoke all day/night long and after awhile our belongings began to smell as well. Otherwise, Gustavo is very friendly and helpful.

I guess beware booking the ensuite room, as I believe it's the only room on the 1st floor. We had a window right over the sidewalk, which was a little annoying because we could hear people outside talking and traffic constantly - not a huge deal, but something to mention in case you mind noise.

We didn't wander upstairs to the kitchen so I can't comment on that, and I don't know if anyone smokes up there as well.

Overall, I'd stay elsewhere next time. The room and bathroom were clean, but I can't stand stale smoke indoors.

Our weekend in Mendoza was super relaxed and fun, thanks to the nice people at Hostel Mendoza Lodging and clean space to sleep! They were very accommodating and we happened to be the only group staying this weekend, which was a holiday weekend in the offseason. The Internet was fast and the breakfast food was delicious and abundant. The only issue I had was that I booked our 8 beds ahead of time online through a hostel booking company and had to pay 10% down in US dollars on my credit card, then we could pay the rest in pesos when we got there...the lady at the desk did not understand that I paid the deposit in dollars and thought it was in pesos, so she only gave us the peso amount off, pretty much making me pay double for my bed. I recommend just showing up and getting a bed. They don't fill up that fast anyways and you avoid and language barriers and confusion.

Great hostel.. the family owners are so friendly and really try to help as much as they can. The place is clean, very quiet and relaxing. Good kitchen facilities to cook some meals with a supermarket 1min away. Nice area.. good stoll down to the main city area. Great base if your doing winery tours. Speaking of which make sure you do the winery bike tour!! This hostel can book for you and its cheaper than going through a travel agency, its $120AR or $250AR depending on level but such an amazing day either way! The breakfast is good too! The English here is pretty poor so be ready for a few tough conversation if your Espanol is weak like mine :S and the rooms get rather hot and air con is extra $6 but a fan is free. Apart from that great place

Room Tip: Upstairs double was nice. But got very hot.. Id probably pay the $30AR to get the air con. The fan d...
