“Quaint Gem in Mendoza”
Reviewed November 2, 2009

We could not leave this hostel in Mendoza. In a quiet area of town, with a little courtyard, comfy living room, and spotless kitchen. There was a friendly vibe, but not a party scene like so many other Argentine hostels. We kept adding more days onto our stay. They are also renovating some rooms with fantastic bathrooms.

I'm just coming to the end of a week long stay in alamo, while studying spanish in Mendoza and would rate it as one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. The owner genuinely cares about the service and so the showers are hotel quality, the breakfast buffet is always fully stocked and everything is clean. At the same time, the cosy layout, social areas and unobtrusive but friendly staff mean that you can't help but meet nice people while still getting a good nights sleep when you need it. Now if they'd just open a chain in BA...

Is in an old Spanish house which has great character and a good, homely atmosphere. Staff are very nice and very helpful-they told us about local tours on our first day, which turned out to also be fantastic. Breakfast is nothing flashy, but isn't lacking anything. Cereal, toasts, bread, spreads, fruit, juice, coffee, teas, biscuits. Beds are made up each day and bathrooms are cleaned. Good shared spaces, though not a party hostel. Location is great, just across from major supermarket and bank, and only a short walk to city centre. Would definitely recommend this hostel-we are very impressed.
