The rooms here were really spacious and clean and the shared bathrooms were really amazing. (There didn't seem to be very many but I think it was quite quiet while we were there and so this wasn't a problem.) There is a nice little courtyard and though we were only here for one night and didn't spend much time in the communal areas they looked great.

This is a friendly and happening hostel, with alot of travellers always hanging around to chat to (or making noise depending on how you see it!). Our room didn't have functioning air con which made sleep veery difficult in the heat, but the room itself was pleasant.
The hostel could do with a few more showers, there are only 2.
Breakfast was a 'help yourself' style, which was a bit messy and unorganised, but there was plenty of bread (no butter on the second day).
Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is good.

Paleque was a great hostel overall. The location was perfect, a short walk to the centre and it was very quite. There was a fantastic television area and an outside area with foosball.

The rooms were spacious, clean and contained both bunks and single beds. The bathroom which was located closest to our room was clean and spacious with hot water. There were, however, too few bathrooms. It was not too big an issue because the hotel was fantastic.

The communal kitchen area was always clean and the staff of the hostel taught us how to make empanadas the one night. Definitely not something we were not expecting and added to the family feeling of the hostel.
Awesome hostel, great staff, great fun.

I have travelled around Central and South America for a year and, during my travels, I have never experienced such rudeness and general apathy towards customer care. At 10.30 (checkout is at 10) on the day of their departure, half of my party asked if they could check out and pay for half a day, as they had decided to leave on the spur of the moment. Although the policy clearly states that this is possible, we were told that they would have to pay for a full night. Although we were disgruntled, we said ok - but only on the condition that the beds would stay free and we wouldn´t be in a full dorm. We were assured that of course this would be the case. 30 mins after our party left, their beds were filled. I complained and said that we should have the money returned or the beds should be freed. After some argument (with the same person who assured us that the beds would be left free) we were told that we could have our money returned. We thought that this was good service and thought no more about it until the manager approached me the following day and entered into a diatribe, calling me all sorts of names that cannot be published. She also said that the rest of my party had not paid for their stay (which was a bare-faced lie!). Also, there are two showers to cover over 40 people and it is nearly impossible to get a shower until after midday or midnight. Finally, one of the guests had her flash drive stolen from the computer by (she thought) a member of the staff. I´m really not normally the kind of person who could be bothered to take time out to write one of these reviews but I am so disillusioned by the terrible facilities, awful service and rude staff that I am moved to do so. In summary - DON´T GO THERE!

Do not stay at this hostel. We paid a pretty steep rate to stay in a dorm which was not too bad, but the beds were very narrow and nothing special. We had to pay 4 pesos for a very small towel (non-refundable). There were also 2 showers between about 50 people, which made getting into the bathroom very difficult. The worst part was when two members of our party tried to check out at around 11 o´clock and were told that they had to pay for another full night. They left that afternoon, having each paid for a full night extra. The moment they left, the hostel filled their beds with 2 new people. We complained, as they had already paid for their beds and we had been told that they wouldn´t be refilled until the next day. After a conversation in reception, the hostel agreed to refund our friends for the extra they had paid. Later that evening the manager arrived and shouted obscenities at my partner in full view of most of the hostel guests, saying that our friends hadn´t paid their bill at all (although we had witnessed them paying). I was stunned and we were both so disgusted by this unprofessional and simply outrageous display that we could not leave quickly enough.

The staff were friendly and helpful at this hostel but it is very run down, untidy, and in some areas quite dirty

The noise levels made sleeping very difficult.

We were surprised that with a private double room we were given our sheets at the reception to make our own bed up. The price we paid was too high for the level of service received compared to other Argentinian hostels.

We stayed in a private room here in Feb 2009 and came away fairly satisfied. Our room was in the centre of the building (i.e. not on the main road) so it was quite quiet, apart from a little noise from other guests (not late). The room was comfortable and clean and quite nicely furnished (for a change!). It had free internet and reception staff were quite helpful.
The problem with this place is that there are only 2 shower rooms - 1 is over a bath and 1 is just a shower - plus one extra toilet (so 3 in total for the whole place). If someone has a bath then that leaves just one for everyone and it´s a real problem. If a (dorming) couple decides to have some "private time" in the bathroom for 30 minutes, followed by an inconsiderate man taking 25 minutes to have a shower in there, whilst the other one is occupied by an inconsiderate woman for 45 minutes, that leaves the rest of us with nothing. GRR! Don´t stay here and count on getting a shower AND catching a bus!
