Two words: Im-presentable. In spanish: cutre (check dictionary and do not need to read anything else). A group of amateurs pretending to run (and charging for) a hotel boutique while running a "camping". Spa??? Very poorly maintained (bathroom had a whole on the floor), arguments aloud between staff, canteen food (and scant).

Room Tip: Find another place.

The setting is beautiful and it was very relaxing .....but there were numerous things in disrepair - windows and doors that didn't close, loose tiles in the shower (without reliable hot water supply), pool wasn't clean and the worst of all was the sewer smell in the bathroom (and throughout the entire room if the bathroom door was left open). The food was okay but the servers were inexperienced so you didn't always get things in the right order. We had massages and they were very nice - also joined in the Yoga class on Sunday morning and it was good too. The experience was authentic and we're glad we saw the Tigre Delta, but wouldn't return to this resort. If you are used to North American standards, this doesn't make the grade!

Room Tip: Don't pay the extra for the "river view" - it's just a muddy stream so would recom...

This is the perfect place to come and escape from the noise and chaos of Buenos Aires - Tigre is 1 hour by train from the centre of BA and then from there you take a boat to Posada Isla Escondida which takes about 40 minutes. The setting is just beautiful - an old house overlooking the river with old wooden balconies and sofabeds, hammocks, sun beds and chairs of all different styles to lounge in and listen to the birds, crickets and the occasional hum of a motor boat or passing canoe. The staff - in particular Julieta - are incredibly accomodating and we were able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner where ever we liked. We particularly enjoyed a candlelit dinner down on the riverdeck!
There are some small details that could be improved - the Posada sells itself as a Spa hotel but does not have much to offer, there is a tiny sauna and jacuzzi (for ecological reasons the jacuzzi uses river water so it is initially a bit of a surprise to see brown sediment filled water in it) and there are some basic massages available but all in quite an enclosed slightly claustraphobic space. It is much nicer to enjoy the gardens and the 2 swimming pools ( 1 outdoor and 1 indoor) Also the first day we arrived the in- house chef Miriam was not there - we noticed quite a difference in the food the next day when she cooked! Although the food wasn´t bad the first day - it was a shame Miriam hadn´t been there both days.
Other than that we had a truly relaxing fun time and hope to go back some day very soon!!

We stayed in the rooms in the old house but there are also 2 cabins available - one of which is just across the river and much more private, you have to row a boat across from the cabin to the posada for meals!

Pay upfront at the river station, Credit Card payment did not work, had to pay cash in USD
Boat trip to the place very interesting and the hotel at first sight very romantic, BUT
no warm water during three days
no Spa service possible, as the therapist was absent due to personal reasons.....
poorly maintained and you do not want to know, what the beds have seen in the past years....
no wardrobe/possibility to hang or store clothes, well - just leave it in your suitcase
the food ranges from charcoaled steaks to surprisingly good - dependent upon who does the cooking
WLAN advertised but never functioned during three days
you better always carry your valuables with you - we didn't and paid for it!

Room Tip: Check the room before you accept the keys!

The posada is a place which satisfies the expectacions of those people who are looking for one where rest, being in touch with the nature and the open air. Guests there are far away from the bustle of the big cities or town. The attention from its staff is pretty good. Sceny is heavenly, seems something made in dreams.
My trip has been more than positive in several respects. Certainly, Hidden Island is a place for coming back again and recommend to those haven´t been yet.at least is my own opinion.
