“Used to be fantastic before the new owners took over (AKA, Lakes, Foothills, Club West)”

Great clubhouse, great staff. The course itself has gone to crap since the new owners took over. Since then the course has not been maintained properly, dead trees and lots of weeds. Wish someone would buy the place and get it back to what it once was.

“Very Nice Wedding Venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

Was there for a wedding recently, very nice offerings for a wedding or special event, the staff were all very nice, and the course and inside restaurant all look to be very well kept! I would go back for dinner or golfing any time.

“Worth Checking Out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

Thanks to Tripadvisor adding the Duke. The Duke is located in the Rancho El Dorado subdivision, which is on your left hand side as you drive into Maricopa from Phoenix. This is about a half-hour drive and is an easy drive along the highway (Maybe you'll see some wild horses in the desert). It is a public course, offers very good value and is a good test for golfers of all handicaps. The green fees include the use of a power cart. The course is a typical desert course with fairways sandwiched between the desert ground. The fairways are wide and well maintained. The bunkers are in good shape and of a reasonable number. The greens are large, have some undulation and are moderate in speed. They are also well-maintained. It’s hard to lose your ball in the waste areas on either side of the fairways unless it goes in someone’s back yard. Be warned, however, if it goes into a bush. Most of these bushes have sharp thorns and the first time I played this course, I came out with cuts all over me when I tried to retrieve the balls that I saw in the bushes. Certainly, there are nicer courses and there are more expensive courses. However, if you want a good golf course that is reasonably priced, then The Duke is one to check out. If you do plan to play several golf courses, check out the Foothills Group Golf Card. In addition to a number of perks, you will get lower green fees at the Duke and affiliated golf courses. This card will pay for itself in as little as two rounds.
