The new Tower rooms are very nice but extremely small. The Resort rooms are much larger but somewhat outdated. There are a couple of on site restaurants that are fair. The casino has lots of slots and game tables and they always have free live shows. The next door entertainment complex is a great added addition with more restaurants, bowling, movies, and arcades for family fun. My stay was fun and I would visit again.

Room Tip: Depending on your preference, the Tower rooms are new and moden but small while the Resort rooms are...

We were comped into a dog-friendly room. The good things were the firm bed, the quality pillows, lots of space and a patio that opened directly to the doggy yard. The bad was that the room was dirty, very dirty. Dirt on the floor, drool marks on the framed art. On the counter tops. Dirt dirt dirt!
However, housekeeping was totally responsive to my wife's comments. They came within the hour and got the room nice and clean. In addition, they doubled the toiletry supplies and just made the room like it should have been in the first place. It seemed like not enough time for the understaffed crew to do a good job. The staff on the front desk and in the onsite restaurant were outstanding. Friendly, efficient and good at their jobs.
The brand new Ak-Chin entertainment center is just going to bring more fun for a varied crowd who don't want to just sit in front of a slot machine sucking on a cigaret . There are 14 movie screens, 16 bowling allies, a game room and a lazer tag mock village! Great place now for the whole family! Great prices and a secure location. Also a great sports bar on the 2nd floor, and VIDEO SCREENS EVERYWHERE! Check it out. Arizona has not seen anything like this before.

My husband booked a getaway at the last minute to stay here. We had no idea what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised with the room size and quality of the room amenities. We ate at the restaurant and had a great meal including filet mignon, lobster tails, drinks and creme brulee for dessert. We played slots for several hours winning and losing throughout the night and we ended the night hanging out in the lounge listening to the live band. Overall, it was a good experience and we enjoyed spending our anniversary there.

Room Tip: ask for 5th floor so you have a good view!

We received an offer from Total Rewards for stay at Ak chin. Wanting to see our old neighborhood in Maricopa we took them up on it. Stayed in new tower. Even though it is supposed to be "completely non-smoking", the hallways smelled of smoke. Room was small but very adequate. As a reader previously reported, yes, there are no bath tubs in the tower rooms. After that it went all down hill. We have never been so annoyed by the horrible smoke throughout the casino. It was bad when we lived in Maricopa but it seems as though it has gotten worse. The Agave Grill has a decent sandwich menu but be aware it closes at 2PM. Do not, I repeat, do not eat at The Range. The service folks are great but the food is simply not. We were the third table that complained about the quality of the food. The salad was limp which was nothing compared to the 6oz. filet we ordered medium well which the menu states "slight pink...warm" Ours came out dead and well done. The waiter politely took it and apologized and the manager came by and offered us something else. By now we were not hungry close to 9PM when they close so paid for the wine which is over priced for the quality. There were still 3 or 4 tables eating but the bartender had left so no after dinner drink there. Out in casino sports bar but smoke is unbelieable and pour is cheapest we have ever had in all our travels throughtout the country. Breakfast in Agave Room is basically pre-cooked and put in steaming pans so might come to you cold. Be aware they are changing out the slot machines and redoing the carpeting so you might not get to your favorite machine. The casino/resort has nothing to really offer to anyone driving out to the boondocks of Maricopa. They really need to get their act together but maybe it is just us as the casino was filled the one night we stayed at hotel. A lot of the employees seem very unhappy but know this is about only employer in Maricopa except grocery stores so they show their unhappiness. Resort put a note on our door that we could stay one more night on the hotel with their compliments...no thanks.

Great staff, very helpful/friendly. Stayed in the Resort section w/pool view. Other family members were in the Towers (new section) Resort rooms were nicer, with a better lay-out. Only down side was the casino was very smoky, still had a great time at the casino bar/dance area.

Room Tip: Resort rooms nicer than Tower rooms I saw

when i stayed at the hotel after the new rooms were built i was looking forward to being able to take a long bath.and just relax in the tub. for a couple of hours but to my unexpected surprise i was totally dissapointed when i saw that the new rooms did not have bath tubs just showers. and when i requested that i could possibly get a room with a tub they told me all the new rooms only had showers so had i known i would of rather stayed in one of the older rooms. the whole point of me staying at the hotel is to get some rest and relaxation. i havent stayed at the hotel in maricopa since then i wanted to be able to brag about how cool the new rooms were but i was not impressed.sorry i just wish they had put at least a few rooms with tubs i would have been a lot happier camper.

I chose this place because I was unable to find a room in the Phoenix area for less than $300/night. Because I am a Harrah's Total Rewards member, I get to stay for free. The hotel/casino is about a $40 cab fare from the Phoenix airport, about 25 miles from downtown Phoenix, and about 30 min from Scottsdale. Needless to say, a rental car is necessary but worth it if you dont have to pay for your stay. I stayed in the newer part of the resort which have rooms that are nicely decorated with the latest interior design trends. I wasn't pleased with the casino as the slots are extremely tight. The buffet was pretty good with lots of selections. Do not go to the steakhouse because it is WAY overpriced and the food quality is comparable to that of a Western Sizzler. I would definitely stay again as long as it's free.
