The fantastic setting boded well for this place, but it really is not up to scratch. The accommodation is basic to say the least, poorly maintained (as mentioned by other reviewers) and in need of some renovation and a good clean. Guests should be aware that although Carilo is a top destination, it only really comes to life at the weekends and in January to February, which is peak summer season when Buenos Aires residents escape to the coast. We went in October, when temperatures were quite low and the heating didn't work. The attractions as a family spot are obvious and the heated pool is quite pleasant, but the place can be noisy and the walls are paper thin.
Having said that, the price we got was a real bargain so can't complain. As most of the positive reviews are in Spanish, I was ready to assume that standards in Argentina are not as high as in Europe, but walking around the resort we saw plenty of other places that looked modern and attractive with good amenties. They are probably pricier too! All in all , a nice spot for a few days break on a budget, but not somewhere you would return to in a hurry or recommend to friends.
