Hostel Suites Obelisco

I stayed 6 nights in double room. Location was great. Metro station was within 5 min walk. You can find the obelisco in front of here. Staffs were usually using computer or talking about with people. Room was good, especially matress was very nice! I like that :) There was no air condition. Pan was not enough for this weather.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. It is really clean and very quaint. The best part is it's location. It is right in the middle of Central Buenos Aires near all the excitement and things to do.
The rooms here are very spacious, as it is set in an old apartment/home that has been renovated to fit a private room hostel. The customer service is amazing. Hubert was very kind slow and explained a lot to us, and smiled the whole time.
The breakfast every morning was good and offered more variety than most hostels, and actually offered fruits, great for a diabetic/vegetarian.
The only reason I am not giving this place a 5 star is that the over abundance of advertising and pushing of other services. I understand the need for it and it is great for those who do not know what to do yet in Buenos Aires, but it just is not my cup of tea. I would rather ask locals of what to do, but that is just me.
I would recommend this place for nearly anyone. It isn't a place to be pampered, but it is definitely top tier when it comes to a hostel. I would place more like a midrange hotel.

Entered this hostel for a reunion with my brother because he staid at this hostel.
It is a pretty big one and they have lots of rooms.
The staff is helpfull and they organize several trips.
Breakfast is great and lots of diversity.
Be sure to check out at eleven or tell them you stay one more night, otherwise you will be booked out...

This hostel was enormous (2 wings, 5 stories). We met a great group of people there, however, I was not a huge fan of the neighborhood. If I went back I would probably stay in Palermo or San Telmo next time. For quick reference, this hostel is right in the city center, not too far from the Casa Rosada, so it might be good for a night or two stay to do the touristey things, but a lot of the restaurants and shops nearby close in the evening so you pretty much end up going elsewhere for nightlife. (FYI, I would describe the neighborhoods like this-- Recoleta: upscale, "old money", hoitey-toitey, ritzy feeling. Palermo: also upscale but younger and trendier, lots of boutiques/shopping and nightlife. San Telmo: More bohemian/artsy, maybe a tad rougher around the edges but still feels safe. Puerto Madero: Newer neighborhood along the riverfront, nice/expensive restaurants, less of a Latin American feel, could be a neighborhood in any modern city, but still very nice. City Center: Typical Latin American big city feeling, a little dirty, not too unsafe though, but of course always keep your eyes open)

The Good: Like all HI hostels, there is a travel agent onsite and they can get you better deals on tours/travel than if you booked on your own. Super friendly staff. There was a cleaning crew on site that cleaned every day and also made your bed each day. The bathrooms were large, spacious, cleaned daily, and almost always had hot water. Good common area space with movie room, four computers, lounge space, and pool table.

The Bad: Because this hostel was so big, they ABSOLUTELY NEED MORE KITCHEN space. Our wing only had one kitchen and it is shared by four floors of dorm rooms. I am not sure if the other wing even had a kitchen or not. The strange thing is, every floor actually has two rooms that are set up for kitchens, but none of the fridges in these kitchens are plugged in and none of them have stoves/ovens, so there is only one actual working kitchen and it is VERY small. The fridge was pretty packed and disgusting with spilled leftovers, etc. If you are one who likes to cook all of your own meals when you travel, this would be a tough place to do it. Also, because it was such a big hostel, there was usually a line of people checking in at the front, which meant waiting a while every time you needed something as simple as asking a question or buying a drink. Lastly, there were windows that swung open in the hallway outside our bedroom, and the latches to close them were broken, so when the wind would blow at night the windows would slam and slam. The first night I almost thought I was in a haunted house. Bring your earplugs!

This place is really fantastic. I have stayed at many hostels, apartments and hotels in Buenos Aires, and this place stands out, mostly because of its incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you want to be close to the theater, San Telmo or the river.

The staff was not only extremely accommodating during my stay, but were so helpful afterwards that I turned to them for advice when other hostels were not as helpful. In addition to the concierge being the best I've seen in town, the rooms were comfortable, the location was great and it really felt like home. Have stayed here every time I came to BA, and will continue to do so.

Room Tip: Only stayed in the private rooms, but I found them very comfortable, even in the heat of January. Lo...

We stayed for 3 days in January , when temperatures in Buenos Aires reached 35C, and could really have done with Air Conditioning and a Pool ! However the Hostel is very centrally located, the rooms and bathrooms clean and the bar area friendly and relaxing. Staff were a bit too `cool' to be actually helpful , sadly , it seemed just too boring for them to actually take the trouble to answer questions , I mean, after all can't everyone just work out the public bus system round a huge city like Buenos Aires ?
Stay if you've blown your budget ( as we had) , if not , go a step up and find a Hotel !

I stayed here on two occasions and was given the same room both times (had reserved a single, but was upgraded to a double with no charge). It is very much a big and bustling city hostel, but I quite liked it. Wifi is only available in the lounge area, but worked very well there. I found it best to shower (in the shared bathrooms) after they had just been cleaned - not because they were dirty, but because otherwise there would be water on the floor and hair in the bath etc. There was a cupboard in the room which could be locked (own padlock) and the windows opened to "fresh city" air. Kitchen facilities were minimal and not very practical. Supermarket and excellent laundrettes are nearby

Room Tip: I found 53D to be a quiet room at the back of the hostel building.
