It's fine. It's good, not great. I ordered the fresh homemade pasta and honestly could not tell the difference. Not memorable but not terrible.

Be forewarned that they charge a cubierto or "cover charge" on top of the already over-priced food. (and of course there's the tip on top of that)

Sitting at san telmo square. Did a quick TA search for best place to eat. And highly ranked amici miei was just across the street.

Squid ink black pasta is my favorite. Seafood was fresh and plenty. Pasta was perfect. Bread is warm (not usual cold and hard).

Quick lunch so didn't do multi courses. But this is enough to warrant return for dinner.

Nice location and ambience. Good service. Nothing to complain about.

Lunch for 2 (both pasta) and water. 410pesos. Probably pricey for BA pasta, but using blue exchange rate $40 is not bad for the quality.

There are cheaper pasta joints in BA but they don't taste Italian. Maybe that's why they call it pasta Portuguese.

I went to this restaurant with high hopes given the large amounts of Italian immigrants resident in BA. But, mamma mia the food was poor and the price completely unjustified. If you're familiar with Strada in England then you've eaten at a better restaurant than Amici Miei. The pizzas had nice ingredients sure, but sadly there was more crust than centre. The prawns to start where inordinately expensive and vapid, the meat starter to share consisted of very basic ingredients and included processed ham, which says it all really. The salad starter listed pine nuts but came with walnuts; sloppy.

Furthermore, we asked the waitress to book a taxi for us at a specific time, which she didn't.

Classic example of a Lonely Planet restaurant resting on its laurels.

Amici Miei was directly across the street from our apartment so we hoped to make it our "go-to" restaurant during our stay. Sadly, it didn't
live up to the hype in quality of food or ambience.
The four of us ordered different starters and entrees and all agreed they were fine, but nothing extraordinary enough to bring us to the restaurant again.
It is a beautiful restaurant but so dark it doesn't generate any feel of fellowship between waiters and guests. Other restaurants in the San Telmo area deliver a much better experience.

By far the friendliest and finest restaurants in Buenos Aires. From the time you enter the restaurant until you pay the check, the service is beyond excellent. Overlooking the famous Plaza Dorego in Barrio San Telmo you can either sit in the minimum beautifully main dining room or take a table "a fuera" on one of the three balconies. We live in the area and have been to the restaurant many times and have never had a bad experience.

Every dish that we have tried is above excellent but the mollecas (sweetbreads) a la plancha are second only to the best thin crusted pizza in Buenos Aires.

And as strange as it may seem, it is an Italian based restaurant that serves the best steak in the city (and that includes many of the city's best "parrillas").

The wine list is supurb and reasonable.

I don't ever say that such and such restaurant is "the best", if I had to name the five best in Buenos Aires, this would be in the mix.
