Rooneys is well located in the heart of Buenos Aires, one block from the subway, with several good restaurants nearby. (We ate at Chiquilin 3 times). It's a very small hotel with only 14 rooms, and if you blink you'll miss the entrance walking by on the street. It's much more personable than staying at a typical western style chain like the Sheraton. Owner Rooney and his reception staff all speak english very well, which is sometimes hard to find in Buenos Aires. Rooms are all unique, comfortable, clean and good value.

Room Tip: We stayed in writer and poet, Leopoldo Lugones' room (#4) right across from reception desk. It...

We stayed in Rooney's two years ago and when the opportunity came to go back to BA, we decided to stay again. The 3 for 2 room deal is very good and we were not disappointed. Service was great, helpful advice from the owner helps a lot. Having a Subway station 1 block away makes the city very easy to navigate. Small things matter also. We arrived on a morning flight, but still got the room before lunch time. When leaving we had a evening flight and the owner arranged the use of a room to keep the luggage in and have a shower before going to the airport.

Room Tip: For a view but a bit louder take a room with a street view. For less of a view but quieter take a in...

We booked a 4 day package at Rooney's Boutique Hotel in January, 2013, and found it to be a fantastic value. Our deal included transfers from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to our cruise ship; 3 nights' lodging; all breakfasts; 2 dinners (one which included a Tango show); a half day tour of Buenos Aires; a full day excursion to an Estancia about an hour's drive from BA; and a tango lesson.

The rooms in the hotel were adequate in size, not luxurious but very comfortable and immaculately clean. The staff members were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located in the Financial District of Buenos Aires, within walking distance of the Obelisco and Teatro Colon. The area is not the best; at times we felt threatened, especially at night. Sections of the city like La Recoleta are probably a safer bet for tourists.

The entrance to the hotel is unimpressive...with a metal grate in front of the door...but don't be put off by this.

Our experience at Rooney's was pretty close to perfect. We would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you stay in a room in the front of the hotel you are more likely to be bothered by noise from the...

Rooney's hotel turned out to be delightful. The staff was very competent, and their knowledge of English was excellent. The location In the heart of the city was perfect. We could walk where we wanted to go, public transportation, taxis, buses and the subway, were very close by, and the many stores and restaurants were excellent.
The hotel itself had a very nice breakfast, the furnishings were old fashioned, but charming, the rooms and baths comfortable, and the ambiance charming. The staff was outstandingly helpful in making arrangements for a city tour, in arranging for a tango show, in locating a travel agent to get reservations to go to Iguasu Falls, and many other things. Not only that, but you could get tango lessons!

Room Tip: No suggestions. The rooms I saw were all very charming and comfortable.

We spent the last five days of our South American holiday at Rooneys and we certainly didn't regret it.
It is small, as you would expect from a boutique hotel, but the benefit of this is excellent service. The owner/manager was very helpful and gave us good tips for nearby restaurants and a tango show for our last night (smaller and more intimate than the 'big' shows where most tourists go).
The hotel is accessed via an atmospheric, old fashioned lift and the rooms are full of character with high ceilings and candelabra. The bedrooms are well equipped, with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Our room faced the street and so we had a problem with a lot of noise some nights (they party late and hard in Buenos Aires, and when they aren't partying they are loudly demonstrating in the streets!). We took advantage of the offer of a free tango lesson in the hotel, with decidedly mixed results! It was great fun however and added to the BA experience.
The one area where we were a little disappointed was the quality of the breakfasts. They are certainly quite basic with not much choice and no hot food at all. The juice wasn't fresh and the coffee was stone cold one morning. A little more variety and choice would have helped. It may even have lifted this review to the full five stars. Otherwise Rooneys came close to being perfect as a base for visiting BA

Room Tip: Maybe choose one that isn't overlooking the main street outside.

I went to this hotel based on TripAdvisor comments so want to add mine. This is a small hotel on the 3rd floor of an office building in midtown/downtown BA, right where I needed to be to attend a conference. I was very satisfied with my comfortable room, old fashioned furniture, excellent, bathroom, and especially lovely the very high ceilings. The wi-fi came and went, but mostly came. The free tango lesson - on site by Maria - was FABULOUS. There were 3 of us unacquainted women and she taught us as a group and danced with us individually and in 1 hour I really learned a bit. And it was fun. My only complaint was the super boring and skimpy breakfasts. However, there is a small supermarket right downstairs, so bring up your own cheese or yogurt or whatever you like. Friends at other hotels had runny or underdone eggs so maybe I got lucky.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Rooney's Boutique Hotel and can't imagine a better choice. The staff are excellent, friendly, helpful, the hotel is adorable, and the location is perfect. We found it by chance, but we would advise anyone thinking about a stay in Buenos Aires to pick Rooney's.
