My husband and I spent two weeks in Buenos Aires staying at the Rooney Boutique Hotel. If you are a traveller that wants to be in the center of all that is real in this city, stay here. The hotel is located just around the corner from the entertainment district. The streets are vibrant and action takes place all the time. The hotel was clean and comfortable with an old world charm. The owner and the staff were wonderful and alway pleasant to speak to. Assistance was given anytime we asked. Our only issue was the weak access to the internet but this was a minor inconvenience compared to the positives. We would concur with the other reviews and what is available in the neighbourhood.

Room Tip: Room number 4 was large and bright. I wouldn't choose room number 13; too small.

We travelled from Mexico, for the foootball match between uruguay and Mexico for the Copa America, na dmost large hotels were full. However, this gem was a delight, its a small family owned property but not like a normal B&B, they arranged airport pick-up and drop-off, the room was cozy and romantic. they arranged a Tango show with transport included and a glass of wine.

The bathroom with excellent pressure, and the hotel location is near subway station and main avenue, if you have nver been to Argentina, I definetely recommend, they will help you plan your daily activities.

it looks lik from the outside as a terrible, being in an old building and having to take an elevator, but once in, it is great.

Room Tip: Good hotel for budget traveller.

This hotel was a great price on booking.com and I just spent the last three nights there. one of the desk staff was particularly helpful, willing calling local numbers for me when I was having problems and leaving messages in spanish on answer phones for me, The place was meticulously clean although as with all geniunely older places there are cracks here and there and it was impossible to close my bathroom door if you were standing at the sink. But none of that detracts from the old world atmosphere. I missed my free tango lesson. I think they are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But I will come again hopefully. Don't bother booking your tango and show until you get here. I could have done it for half the price I paid through the hotel. Ther is also a great steak house teo blocks to the left and you come out the front door. It;s called Chlliean I think. The hotel will give you directions. Lots of cheap eating places along the main road just around the corner and no trouble getrting taxis there. Don't book through the hotel as it costs $5 more for a radio taxi. Breakfast is simple - no eggs on offer- but adequate for most purposes and included in the price. They even have an English newspaper (what joy!)in the reading room daily. Also ask them to make you an Argentine drink every night. Worth the price.

We spent 4 nights at Rooneys in early March and certainly agree with all the positive comments- renovated Buenos Aires mansion with old world charm. The room was not huge, except for the 12-13 foot ceilings, but was more than adequate. The boutique is in a busy , somewhat "gritty" part of the City, in easy walking distance of most of the down-town sites, Avenida de Mayo, Plaza de mayo, Theatro Colon etc. The hotel is on the third floor and you are buzzed in from the street. You feel extremely secure. The street itself (Calle Sarmiento) is very busy with demonstrators, bars, late night (and early morning) partyers and restaurants. You are two blocks from a main Subte line. I even took two tango lessons at the hotel and survived. They were lots fun and a nice way to meet other guests.
When booking a taxi make sure to ask at the hotel the price difference between the regular cabs and the private cars for hire.

Room Tip: If you are there for a Friday or Saturday night, you might ask for a room away from the street to avoid some of the local street noise
