In addition to the better known (but somewhat less local) culinary treasures of Argentina such as bbq, gelato and pizza, definitely do not miss out on Argentinean empanadas. This is a good place at which to calibrate your taste-buds to the traditional empanada in the style of the Tucuman province. Other regional varieties to look out for are the Salteña, Cuyana and the traditional style of Buenos Aires cafés, which could be called Criolla or Porten(h)a.
