Disclaimer - I don't eat beef ! So I am not comparing this to any of the steaks available in Argentina but as someone who loves seafood and Japanese food I have to say the dinner we had at Osaka last month ranks as one of the best meals I have ever had. We went on to Peru after Argentina and while the food was fantastic - osaka ranks higher than even Gaston y Astrid in Lima in my opinion. The flavours were unique and incredibly well matched. The seafood was very fresh and the presentation lovely. We went to the Palermo branch. Don't miss this !

We spent an evening at Osaka, the food was truly amazing, fresh seafood which is very hard to find in Buenos Aires. We had the Ceviche tasting, which was very good. The service was a bit slow, but overall a great meal, and a great restaurant! I highly recommend Osaka!

Osaka's branch in Palermo was a block from our hotel, so one evening we walked in. Although we had no reservations and the tables were full, within a few minutes we were seated at the upstairs bar and had access to the full menu. Appetizers were unusual (by US standards) and excellent -- octopus in a kind of Peruvian sauce, and salmon in a sort of seviche -- and also quite sizeable. We followed up with a single maki roll, which had 10 pieces and filled us up. One tip -- the wine pour (by the glass) is well over 8 ounces; one drink sufficed for the whole meal. Osaka isn't inexpensive, but the food was great and the service -- thanks to the chatty bartender, who was perfectly fluent in English -- was also a plus.

I visited Osaka on a warm night in December (high summer in Argentina) and ate on Osaka's lovely outdoor terrace. The wine was outstanding, the service was excellent and the food was quite wonderful. Expensive, but worth the price if one wants an upscale, rather elegant dining experience.
