I struggle to see how Sottovoce gets so many great reviews when other excellent Italians are available in the city. It's not bad but it's by no means an award winner in my eyes.
The alarm bells rang as always when I saw the menu, any restaurant that claims to be able to cook that many dishes with excellence is lying, and I was right. The food was ok but far from outstanding, presentation was average, the fish wasn't as fresh as it could be (sure it says on the menu it's only fresh twice a week but you're a city on the sea, how difficult can fresh fish be?), it was just a run of the mill Italian restaurant.
The service? Just bloody grumpy, clearly unimpressed that we weren't spending money on starters though with 10 people we were hardly spending small.
Save time and head elsewhere.
