“Perfect hotel for first-time visitors to B.A.”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

I highly recommend this hotel for first-time visitors to B.A. as it is in a safe and central B.A. Neighborhood within 4 or 5 blocks to the subway, grocery stores, and some great restaurants and night life in the Palermo barrios. The best amenity of this hotel is the staff; they absolutely went out of there way to assist us with directions, places of interest, how to get there, and best of all, restaurant recommendations. When we wanted a reservation to an excellent restaurant, they made the call. They really made our stay easy and enjoyable.

Things we loved about this hotel: 1) The hotel lobby. So relaxing and comfortable. 2) The bed. Large king with a comfortable mattress and comforter. 3) The free wi-fi. Yes, we watched Netflix in our room with no issues at all. 4) The television. Flat screen with both Spanish and English channels.

The room decorations were not great, but who cares when the bed is so wonderful. The breakfast was average at best consisting of cold cuts and cheeses, breads, fruit, cereal, and pastries, with an abundant jar of dulce de leche, a must for Argentina. It was sufficient to get each day off to a wonderful start.

Restaurants to try within walking distance: 1) Sarkis. This is an Armenian restaurant ranked #1 in all of B.A. Think hummus, tabbouleh, kefka, kibbeh, beef and lamb kebabs, etc. absolutely wonderful. They are open for lunch, then open for dinner at 8pm. Get there right at 8pm or plan on waiting in line. So good and reasonably priced. 2) Parilla Don Julio. A very nice Argentinian steakhouse with wonderful rib eye and tenderloin. Must order the French fries and try the provoleta (grilled provolone cheese) and the morcilla (blood sausage). 3) Pizza a la piedra on Thames St. Just before you get to Santa Fe St. $30 pesos for a cheese pizza handmade. Also try a few varieties of their empanadas, especially the spicy meat and the caprese for $5 pesos each. Cheap but good.

Room Tip: We had the suite as it came with a king bed rather than two twins you would need to push together.

The service at this hotel was outstanding. The front desk always knew places to recommend seeing and restaurants to eat at. They were extremely helpful and friendly and the hotel is in aperfect location for seeing the best area of Buenos Aires. I would absolutely go back to this hotel when traveling in B.A.

Average boutique hotel in a great location. Walking distance from Palmero Hollywood. Rooms were clean and spacious but could use some work.
Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast in the hotel lobby was good and there is a rooftop bar.

The hotel´s location is excellent for those wanting to stay at the Palermo neighbourhood, close to the area´s bars, restaurants and shops, but still on a quiet street and about 5 blocks from the main avenue and the subway. The hotel is small (30 or so rooms) and staffed by a young and friendly team. Breakfast is basic but very tasty, and you have the option of taking it on the restaurant located next to the lobby or on the rooftop terrace with great views over Palermo. The rooms are spacious and stylishly decorated (as is the rest of the hotel) with contemporary design pieces. All have a small balcony overlooking the street. The beds are incredible! Huge and soft! Overall a stylish, casual boutique hotel that matches the area surrounding it.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 3 and the ones on higher floors seem to be a bit larger or have a better layout.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the end of Nov 12. It was in a great location, only 5 minutes walk to the metro station. There are many good restaurants in this vicinity. The decor of this hotel is very modern although not to my taste, as i found the colour scheme dull and depressing . My sleep was disturbed one morning at 2am by music coming from a neighbours party. When i complained to reception they immediately found me another room so, good service. Breakfast was just ok.

Room Tip: Try the Rosdita fondue restaurant which not far from the hotel. It is very busy but most restaurants...

Esplendor is in a great location and only a four block walk to a main avenue, to a laundry and to great restaurants. A good wine store is across the street and owner Alejandro is very helpful. The staff was terrific and friendly. They booked a great tango show for us, lent us an adapter, coordinated taxi travel for us and gave good hints on restaurants. The lobby was very pretty and the rooftop terrace had a great view. Also, good music in common areas. Breakfast was adequate. Drawbacks are the rooms are dark -- one area has no light and we had to use a flashlight to open the safe or see into suitcases at night; and the bathroom had some mold. Most Argentina hotels have a peculiarity in using only a half-door for the shower, causing water to go all over the bathroom floor. We loved having the balcony shaded by the huge trees and in the afternoons we sat there and drank Argentine wine and cheese purchased from the wine store across the street, listened to the birds and watched the neighborhood foot traffic.

Room Tip: Rooms on fifth floor or higher are quieter, shady (feels like being a bird in the tree top) and priv...

Overall great experience. We were worried about some lower ratings received on the site- but they seem to be driven by prior construction.

The construction is over and the hotel is nicely updated. The location couldn't be better between the metro and quaint shops of Palmero. Rooms had great bedding and balconies. The roof deck for breakfast and happy hour were wonderful- a great space.

The staff was able to get us into our room upon arriving early and also volunteerd a late check out when we asked about a ride to the airport. Overall a wonderful value and would certainly recommend!
