The purpose of this message is to bring to your attention our very positive opinion of the Tryp hotel at San Martin 474 that we used during our visit to Buenos Aires for seven nights beginning on April 18, 2009.

The front desk was always manned by English speaking attendants who were very helpful in getting oriented and settled in for the seven day stay.

Our standard room was spacious and met all of our needs. Everything worked. It was quiet and a the room darkening shade was appreciated. The no smoking policy was a requirement for us. Closet and drawer space was adequate for the two of us; the individual room heat and cooling control was welcome; the heated bathroom floor was a nice touch; the towels were super as was the shower. The beds were firm and we really slept well. The room was kept spotless by the maids. The flat screen TV had about 60 channels, BBC, CNN and many others in English.

The full breakfast was just great and started our day with a bang. Especially welcome was the espresso style decaffeinated coffee that was made for me each morning and the made to order eggs. Everything offered was fresh and the dining room staff was very attentive.

Lastly, I want you to know that we had a special need for assistance on our last day at the hotel which was accomplished by Mr. Manuel Ferrando, the General Manager. His attention to our request was timely and appreciated. He runs a very nice property.

I consider it a stroke of good luck that we chose this hotel, unknown to us at the time of booking through Expedia, for our first stay in Buenos Aires. Be assured that we have put the Tryp hotel chain at the top of our list for future international travel.

As someone else said - believe the hype. Great value in a great location if you want to be in the heart of the microcenter (we did). The rooms are excellent - airy and modern with a great bathroom (shower only) and good flat screen TV with plenty of English channels. Quiet too. Breakfast is a pretty good buffet with eggs cooked to order. Staff are all friendly and speak good English. The only drawback is there is no real bar area (though you can grab a table in the restaurant for a drink ). Within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and many of the main sites. Very close to the underground. I can't think of any real drawbacks and would definitely stay here again.

The Tryp is very centrally located next to all major sights (Casa Rosada, Plaza de Mayo, Congress, Paseo de Mayo, Florida Street, Plaza San Martín, etc.).

In addition, rooms are bright, very big, with nice linnens, the breakfast is excellent and there are two computers with printers where you can print out infos about the city or your boarding cards.

However, if you are planning to stay for a week or so in Buenos Aires, I would recommend staying here two nights, and the rest in the Palermo area, since, once you have seen most sights around the Tryp, all the life is mostly located in Palermo (in fact, at night, the centre--where the Tryp is located--may get "empty" of people and a bit dangerous).

We were only able to stay one night after our cruise from Valparaiso, Chile to Buenos Aires, but the Tryp was perfect...location, accommodations, breakfast, helpfulness. And the price was unbeatable. Plan your stay around this excellent hotel...for one night or one week.

Agree with all of the positive reviews below. However, we thought the staff was great. Nearly everyone spoke very good English and they arranged us tickets to a tango show and tickets/guide to a soccer game. The location is perfect for visiting Calle Florida (city's tourist shopping street just around the corner) and Plaza de Mayo. However, this area is much more of a business district and not a neighborhood with local stores. The room was nice and trendy looking. Very comfortable. The breakfast was good and two computers with free internet next to the breakfast/bar area.
