“Amazing experience”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

I came to this hostel after being completely fed up with another hostel I was staying at in the city center. This place has such an amazing vibe, it feels more like living in a large house than staying in a generic hostel. The staff, a brother and sister are very laid back and amicable and the rest of the guests were the same, many of whom I became very good friends with afterwards. The two patios are great places to kick back and have an ice cold beer and are unlike anywhere else in B.A. The location is ideal for exploring all parts of the city, and despite being in the city center there is no noise from traffic at night. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to stay in B.A for any length of time (many of the guests including myself ended up staying there for several months) and to anyone who is looking for something beyond what a generic hostel can offer.

First off, this hostel features a disgusting smelly old dog that urinates uncontrollably all over the floors, including the kitchen, so don't walk barefoot! Really lousy internet. Better get up early, because they run out of breakfast, even during the supposed breakfast hours. Only 2 showers so get ready to wait in line. Everything needs to be deep-cleaned, shower curtains put in bio-hazard quarantine, and fridge burned. Laid back vibe, though.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the 9-person room

This place could be lovely, but it's a mess. It's dirty, especially the floors and the bathrooms. They are supposed to serve breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30, but the first day it wasn't out until after 9, and the second day they started getting it together at 10! And it's just bread and instant coffee with powdered milk, doesn't exactly take long to prepare! They also have a dying dog (who should really be put down) who had a bleeding head wound that was infected, and the dog took a dump and pissed in the kitchen on two different occasions while I was there. I love dogs, but this was just disgusting.

My wife and I stayed two separate nights and we tried to return for a third but they were full. This is a good budget option which has a young backpacker crowd, nice outside plaza, and very friendly and helpful staff.

Argentinian staff working here is genuinely friendly and helpful; all the rest about Kilca was very amateuristic. i guess they want to evoke an artistic/bohemian/antique atmosphere but the place just does not live up to its potential. e.g toilet seats are cracked and place smells dusty (or maybe that was dog+cat smell).

Service is poor: they promise internet and breakfast but computers did not work so could not go online and first day, there was no breakfast at all.

I am paying 5 pesos more in another place now and get 4 times more for my money.

My wife and I (and our infant son) stayed in the Kilca Hostel. Although the staff is very friendly, the kind words about the hostel stop there-- the rooms are cold (there was an ineffective heater in the room) and we had to use two twin, unfitted sheets to put over the bare mattress. One night, one of the Kilca's own receptionists had a party until 2 a.m. Ugh. Your money is better spent at any other hostel in B.A.

We are very sorry to hear that you didn t enjoy your stay with us
i can inform you that the heaters work always properly , the recepcionist must respect the silent time at 1 am that s why is not working anymore in the establishment
also we have only two double rooms in our hostel so that is why they offer you a room with 2 single beds.
about the sheets the rececionist make a mistake we will not make again
we want to thank you for your time to write so we keep improving in our service
and like to give you something in response, so we guaranteed a free night in our private room with bathroom in suite when you visit again our city.

OK, the place is very nice : old charming mansion near San Telmo with patios...
But the main problem is that you can t really sleep because this hostel is full of very young "so cool people smoking pots all the day" who are absolutely irrespectful: they leave ugly plates evrywhere, they never wash them in the kitchen, they did party around midnight until the early morning.
Problem is that the boss doesn t do anything to stop that.
Very sad because a big potential
