Melia Recoleta Plaza
Ranked #40 of 444 Hotels in Buenos Aires
Reviewed December 25, 2013

What a pleasant surprise! This little hotel at the exclusive neighbourhood of Recoleta was more than our expectations. The location was excellent, the staff was very helpful. The hotel apparently went under some renovation, and they have a new manager, and he is doing a fantastic job.He gives justice to the meaning of Boutique hotel. You get the feeling that every small detail is taken care of in a very tasteful way.The rooms are tastefully designed in a classic way, every room is dedicated to a famous personality,The lobby is spotless. You get wifi automatically without a password. The breakfast is fantastic, there is "real" fresh juice, and you have all this accompanied by jazz, one morning we even had a live performance by a very talented musician. I cant think of starting a day in a more pleasant way.
We were told improvements are still on the way,so i want to see when it is "perfect."This little gem is a fantastic value for money.Very refined ,very chic, but not pretentious.Next time we go to Buones Aires ,which i hope will be soon,i know where i stay.

Room Tip: we stayed in two different rooms ,they were all nice

We booked this hotel because we have always had good luck with the Melia chain in Europe. Unfortunately, after a very long flight from the U.S., we arrived only to be told that the hotel was overbooked and that the computerized booking system continues to book rooms even when there are no rooms available. The front desk staff was very nice and assured us that they had a comparable hotel for us a few blocks away. The hotel we were sent to was an apartment hotel so it did not have the amenities that you book a boutique hotel for. It was definitely not a hotel we would ever have booked but we were exhausted and did not want to deal with finding a comparable hotel in a foreign country after a long flight. Would probably use Melia booking system again but I would caution you to call the hotel ahead of time and make sure there is actually going to be a room even if you have a confirmation number!

Very well located hotel and quite pleasant but more of a good 3 star. The rooms need updating and are a little worn. The breakfast was adequate but not special ( pretty good though) what probably saved this hotel is the helpful staff and the location is excellent. We had a few drinks in the bar and I thought the prices were little high at least for buenos aires.

Excellent location. Small, quiet, refined, and very good attention from the personnel. Sensational breakfast buffet. Free wifi for all (finally a hotel not trying to upsell 10 daily bucks for connectivity!). Good restaurants around.

Improvement opportunities:
1) only one iron for the entire hotel!!! Come on!!!
2) Wi fi not working at all times. Still, good it was for free.
3) main restaurant. Not all items in the menu were available.
4) no parking, no valet... Not good if you have a car!

really good breakfast (comparing to Sheraton Convention Center and Emperador in the same town), nice location, abouve avg. serivce, need some renovation. Fits conference attendants well(you spend in the room only night and morning anyway), taxi to the downtown is cheap and you need to walk only 50 meters to the next crossing to catch one.

while the hotel looks OK, it stops there. the service is average to poor, someone stole my PJ's from my room, Breakfast was poor. and at $330 US a night I expect a great deal more. I would not go back. the front desk staff were it's only saving grace..
