Melia Recoleta Plaza

My husband and I were visiting family in Buenos Aires and spent 11 nights at the Melia Recoleta. From making reservations to our final check-out, we were delighted at the cooperation, expertise, and warmth of the staff. The rooms are lovely and well-kept, the breakfast plentiful, and the location superb. We are already planning our next stay!

We spent 4 nights in the Melia over New Year's with our two sons. The rooms were not cheap..$320/night for the deluxe room and $280/night for the standard room...and don't forget about the extra 21% tax! The deluxe room had an attached patio with a couch and a jacuzzi, but the rooms were the same size as the standard. The concierge was very helpful in advance of our visit, and the staff was also helpful. Breakfast was included and more than adequate. The location was very good, just around the corner from the Alvear Palace in Recoleta. It was easy to get a taxi, although most taxi drivers will need an address to take you back there as it is a small hotel that is not generally known.

Room Tip: Only 4 rooms a floor, all rooms the same size.

The hotel is situated in the upscale neighbourhood of Recoleta and breathes the atmosphere of the mid 20th century. Our room, no. 75, is certainly one to ask for. Clean and cosy with well functioning amenities as airconditioning and bathroom. No contact sounds of the room next to us which was also occupied (4 rooms per floor, 2 one side - 2 other side of building). Rooms are not large, some 24 square meters plus small bathroom. Our room was equipped with 2 excellent beds, earlier hard than soft. Pillow menu and l'Occitaine products. Butler service for shoe shining, newspapers, etceteras. We felt immediately at home in the decor of the hotel. Personnel was very much willing to be of help and responsive. The breakfast buffet has more than enough choice but does not has the wealth we know from other latin countries like Brasil and Mexico. In the restaurant there are not enough tables available for breakfast when the hotel is fully booked. Also there are not enough tables for 3-6 persons. We would recommend management to remove the 2 sofas and provide bar services in the nice sitting area outside the restaurant/bar. We took a massage in the hotel spa. Masseuses were good but the tiny spa (with dry sauna and steam room) has no ambiance. The latter you can find in the close-by spa of the Hyatt hotel which offers an excellent but expensive alternative to relax some hours in a professional and luxurious environment. Close to the hotel are great restaurants of different signatures - ask the concierge of the hotel to make reservations for otherwise disappointment may be yours. Outside the summer season the hotel has a live jazz club which is closed from December until March. All in all a very pleasant place to spend some time. If the management would start up a program to replace the fabric of the furniture without replacing the furniture itself, the hotel would look great instead of good. And, in the space between the hotel entrance and the second elevator there are 2 rugs on the floor with terrible stains which need immediate replacement.

Room Tip: The hotel has 2 towers with guest rooms. We were in the tower in the back facing the tower in the fr...

They will take advantage of every chance they get. Don't use the concierge for any reservations or bookings. They will simply view you as a cash register. Do your research and make your own decisions. These guys will only do what is best for them and will provide them the largest fee. Avoid this place at all costs.

Very stylish lobby, extremelly friendly and helpful staff. The room is kept clean on a daily basis. The bed is very very comfortable, and there is a pillow menu. Room is spacious with a chaise, study table and all. The bathroom is modern with all amenities available.
Walking distance from Recoleta cemetery.
Lovely hotel - We really enjoyed it.

spent 5 nights for business, the location of the hotel is perfect, you can walk to the center and to Puerto Madero. Fair prices for a good quality, the double room was very spacious and clean.
cons: No free internet wifi and the receptions has not been very helpful a couple of times.
I definetly suggest this hotel both for business and vacation for its key position in the center and its good quality/price.

Our hotel stay was perfect! Great location in Recoleta, huge rooms with comfortable beds and a friendly helpful staff at a great price for the area. The hotel is small and has a charming boutique feel. The rooms are decorated with antique furniture and have large french style windows, the beds had nice sheets and fluffy down comforters. Since it is on a quiet street we were able to sleep well. The breakfast is average -- some mediocre hot foods, cereals, pastries, etc . . .but the coffee is great! The restaurant staff was very friendly and made a fantastic cafe con leche, cafe cortado, ect . . . to order. It is located next to arestaurant known for great empanadas and it is a short walk to recoleta cemetery. The staff was helpful in calling taxis, recommending areas to dine & shop, what to see and more. A negative would be their bad advice on travel to the international airport. There was a lot of traffic and the lines at EZE were crazy. If we had listened to the hotel we would have missed our flight. Leave enough time to get the airport and get there at least 2.5 hours before your flight. Last, they had wifi in the main areas and restaurant which was great but no wifi in the rooms. I did find this was common and not a unique issue with this hotel.
