“Very local tango experience.”
Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

Hey there.

With friends we spent there at least five hours and enjoyed this amazing and authentic Tango place.

In my opinion this place is one of the must haves of BA.

Enjoy your time there.

“A real tango adventure in a very bohemian place.”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

This is the place to try the tango in a real milonga after a couple of lessons. A marvelous place that looks like a big oldfashion barn. Look and learn and if you have the guts take part and try yourself. If you don´t it is a pleasure to just watch the guys that knows how to danse the tango.

“A Tango factory.”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

You can take classes there, maybe your first class. The space is huge, an old flour factory. So climbing the many steps is the only way to get to the dancing floor and please, do not expect luxury, but an artist venue. The old wood floor is perfect for dancing. The admission price is right, the drinks are not too expensive, share a huge bottle of beer or wine with your friends or have a cup of coffee and enjoy the dancers. All generations, except children are there representing the real people of Buenos Aires. Very artistic, camp, cold in winter, and sometimes live music surprisingly good. A place to go unless you would rather pay pretty much at tourist tour shows. We did go after dinner but if you get hungry there you might get some inexpensive food that will allow you to extend your night into the early morning hours, the place is open until 4:00 a.m. The crowd does not get their before midnight.

“Bohemian style tango”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Super cool, artsy, tango warehouse. I felt like this must be where all the hip Argentines go to dance tango. I took a class and decided tango is not for me, but it's fabulous to watch!

“Dark and dirty...as real tango should be!”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Firstly this place is really difficult to find!! It has a tiny entrance consisting of a blacked out window with a small notice on A4 paper with dance lesson times. You really would right past it, as we did several times! Several locals we asked directions from, didn’t know and one told us it shut at 10pm. We were literally about to head home when they opened the door. Phew. The lessons finished at 10 according to the notice in the window but the dancing goes on all night. However, it’s not clear on the door what times its open so we were lucky! It’s on the road ‘Sarmiento’ just off the corner of Medrano and Sarmiento. If you walk as far as the supermarket you’ve gone too far. It doesn’t look much from the outside but is charming inside. It was 25 Argentinean pesos to get in and we stayed until about 2am. It says on the website its open every day 6pm til 4am. They have quite an extensive menu and it was all vegetarian which was amazing for me! The food was good and not expensive. The dancing started off slow as people were still having lessons but by the end it was only the real pros up there and it was amazing to watch. A live band played for quite some time. The iconic string instruments playing the tango music and a few brilliant dancers strutting their stuff was enchanting to see. I loved it. The place feels a bit old and run down but seems authentic. It’s very dark inside, the tables lit with candles and a few fairy lights around the place but I loved the atmosphere. It’s mostly locals. There were a few tourists in there but I guess the difficulty in locating it probably keeps most away. It’s a well kept secret. I personally loved it. It wasn’t a flashy, sequined tango show, it was dark and dirty and subtle and more like I imagined real tango should be. I had a great night there with a few friends and would definitely recommend it for an alternative tango themed night out!
