Ulises Recoleta was recommended by Charlie of Mendoza's Trout & Wine Tours for our recent stay in Buenos Aires. Conveniently located in Recoleta, it is a short walk, bus ride or cab ride to most areas of interest in the city. Our suite there was spacious and well appointed, although in need of some sprucing up (new paint, eg.). The spiral staircase to the second floor bedroom could be an issue for some, too. On the other hand, we thought that it was a great bargain at less than $200 US/night. The staff is extremely helpful in arranging dinner reservations & transportation. One of them phoned around to several wine shops to inquire about a wine for which I'd been searching. Complimentary continental breakfast is very good and cooked orders (omelets) are available for a nominal fee. Ulises is also w/in reasonable proximity to many of the city's finest restaurants. One evening we dined at La Bourgogne, perhaps the city's most expensive restaurant, but worth a splurge for a special occasion, and directly across the street from Ulises. Elegant ambience, excellent service and great French cuisine. Since we, like most Norte Americanos, prefer to dine early, our reservation for 7:30 PM gave us over an hour as the only guests. There are many very good restaurants in Buenos Aires, but one of our other favorites was the eponymous, Hernan Gipponi, innovative cuisine in a boutique hotel in Palermo district.

The Ulises is situated in Recoleta, just across the street from Hotel Alvear, a 5 star hotel fit for heads of state and Hollywood actors.

At 1/5 the price of the Alvear, the Ulises Recoleta Suites offers offers large, clean, and comfortable rooms in a boutique hotel atmosphere. The staff are helpful and attentive. The hotel is in the best part of the city, in between all major sites.

Booked this hotel after reading prior Tripadvisor reviews. It was a great place to stay, adequate rooms for the great price and staff that was most helpful & friendly. The Recoleta area was the perfect place to stay.

What a lovely and hotel! It is a luxurious boutique hotel with great attention to detail. I carried out a detailed investigation of the price/quality ratio of many hotels in the Recoleta/Retiro/Microcentro areas and this one came out top, so I booked it and was not disappointed.
The location is perfect. 5 minutes walk from the cemetery. 10 min walk to the Museo de bellas artes. 20 minutes walk from the Torre Monumental. The area is high-end and feels very safe. There are lots of restaurants by the cemetery.
There are only about 25 rooms so you feel like the attention is sufficiently personalised without being too in your face. I felt sorry for the people staying in the 5 star Alvear Hotel across the street. They were paying 4 to 5 times more than we were but we were staying in a wonderful luxurious boutique hotel with a relaxed atmosphere.
We had a really stylish and luxurious double room: super-soft linen, fluffy towels, big room (a real bonus in Buenos Aires), a small balcony overlooking the 5 star hotel next door, marble bathroom with power shower, tiny kitchen area.
All the staff were extremely welcoming, warm and friendly. Special mention must be made of the lovely Marianne who was on the reception desk when we arrived. She was full of intelligent comments on life in Buenos Aires and her humour and warmth set the tone for the days to come at this intimate Buenos Aires retreat.
The breakfast room was elegantly managed by a friendly and professional lady who took great pride in the setting of the tables and the appearance of the delicate breakfast buffet. It was your typical Argentinian breakfast, so very sweet. One suggestion- please offer plain yoghurt in addition to the sickly sweet strawberry one.
Wifi was erratic. We couldn't really use the internet on the first day.
I would not hesitate to return. We went to Argentina for 2 weeks, spending 2 nights at the beginning in BA in a hotel in Palermo (Be Hollywood) and 2 nights at the end in the Ulises. The room in the Ulises was far superior to the one at Be Hollywood and the whole experience was better. Also, as a tourist I think it is much better to stay in Recoleta than Palermo. Recoleta is much more central and therefore more convenient for the traditional tourist activities. The only advantage in staying in Palermo is that you are nearer the trendy bars and restaurants.

Perfect location. Across street from 5 star hotel. Walking distance to food, craft fairs, ice cream, ATM's, and the giant silver flower thingy. Staff was incredibly helpful. They arranged city tour, and tour of Tigre River. Tours picked us up at hotel. Room was huge, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast was tasty. Perfect balance of price, location, comforts.

Stayed here three nights, good size room, no English news channels on tv, stove, fridge, microwave in room. Breakfast is good and basic, conveniently served until 11 a.m. Most staff speak fairly good English. Laundry is very expensive and prices are not marked on laundry sheet. Hotel is very good value for money, comfort and location. ask if they are finished with doing the renovations as there was hammering around 8:00 a.m on our last day when construction work was being done in one or two of the rooms.
